The Real Housewives of Orange County star Dr. Terry Dubrow is using his platform to bring awareness of stroke signs to fans. He explained the importance of getting to a hospital immediately.
RHOC and Botched fans may know Terry as a plastic surgeon, but he is foremost a doctor. The reality TV star also made several statements about Ozempic use in the entertainment industry. It’s a worthwhile endeavor to become a spokes person for stroke awareness. Especially since Terry himself had had a mini stroke, or Transient Ischemic Attack last August.
Terry asks fans not to “blow off” getting to the hospital on time
The Botched doctor shared what warning signs people should look out for during an exclusive interview with The Messenger.
“I think the key thing to understand and appreciate is no matter what age you’re at, if you start to have facial symmetry changes, speech problems, a one-sided issue on your body and numbness or weakness, that’s a stroke ’til proven otherwise,” he said.
Timing is everything when it comes to managing potential long-term effects of a stroke. Terry explained, “You get your buns in the hospital because you really only have an hour, an hour and a half, to get there and get those clot dissolving drugs and if you’re young, it’s a hole in your heart. Get to the hospital. Don’t blow it off.”
Terry was reluctant to go to the hospital when he suffered one. His wife, Heather Dubrow insisted he go. As a result, the Bravolebrity didn’t have long-term damage and is doing “extremely well.”
“My wife forced me to go in the hospital. I would have gone home. I certainly most likely would have continued to have a stroke and would not be a plastic surgeon today if it weren’t for Heather Dubrow,” he added.
“Stroke awareness is key and a lot of lives have been and will continue to be saved because of this,” Dr. Dubrow concluded.
