There’s still hope for The Real Housewives of Potomac, according to Candiace Dillard Bassett, of all people.
We’re more than halfway through Season 8 of RHOP, and the entire season has been a nonstop tug-of-war between Candiace and the Green-Eyed Bandits. Candiace is very much committed to the conspiracy theory that Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, and Ashley Darby conspired against Chris Bassett to cover up Juan Dixon’s questionable behavior.
On the show, we’ve seen several attempts to bridge the gap in the group. Nothing seems to be working, but there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. Candiace recently spoke to Decider about all of the drama that’s been unfolding, and somehow, she’s still holding out hope that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Candiace has faith in the Housewives
When chatting about Season 8, Candiace acknowledged the fact that a show like RHOP depends on the strength of its ensemble. If the group dynamic is off, it compromises the whole show. Unfortunately, that’s where we’re at right now with Season 8.
Candiace explained, “A show like this is all about the ensemble. It’s about watching smart and dynamic women and the ebbs and flows they go through in their friendships.”
When it comes to the conflict that naturally arises, Candiace expressed the importance of apologizing and moving on. So far in Season 8, that hasn’t been happening. She said they all have to be willing to “put differences aside” for the sake of the ensemble. So, why isn’t that happening in Season 8?
Honesty, forgiveness, and a touch of delusion
Although it doesn’t seem like there’s any light at the end of the tunnel of Season 8, the Potomac ladies still have to sit down with Andy Cohen for their reunion. Candiace said that she’s optimistic that will yield some positive results.
She said, “I spend nights thinking about how our group gets back up from this. It’s like we are under an underpass, under a blanket, shivering and destitute. People need to take accountability.”
In Candiace’s opinion, honesty and sincere apologies are the only things that can help bridge the gap. Mind you, this is the same person who refuses to believe that her castmates aren’t sitting around plotting and scheming against her stay-at-home husband. However, she still recognizes what needs to happen next.
Candiace explained, “Right now, some of us feel like they are existing in an alternative reality. They need to exit that space and just be real and honest.”
She continued, “If honesty can float to the top, we can move forward with this group. If that happens, I’m ready to go down the yellow brick road and go to Oz and have a good time.”
