Even though Thomas Ravenel was fired from Southern Charm after Season 5 following a series of sexual assault allegations, the former South Carolina treasurer is still hanging around like a bad smell. For the first five seasons, Thomas ran with a much younger crowd, possibly in hopes of recapturing his youth. But all he was seen doing was dating young women and seemingly sucking their happiness out of them.
On Southern Charm, Thomas felt like a great white shark amongst a bunch of minnows, as he always seemed to get exactly what he wanted. After Olivia Flowers revealed on the Southern Charm Season 9 reunion that she had a one-night stand with him, Thomas started to crawl out from the hole he was living in, and fans want none of it.
Thomas Has a History of Dating Younger Woman
Whether he likes it or not, many fans see Thomas as quite the sugar daddy due to him dating women of all ages who are attracted to his power and status. I mean, hell, a bridge in Charleston is named after his family. The father of two’s track record speaks for itself. The first Southern Charm star we knew he tried to make a move on was Danni Baird, who was 29 at the time. Thomas was 51. The former politician tried to court Danni during Season 1. However, she stopped him from kissing her at the end of the date.
Thomas also dated Kathryn Dennis during Season 1, who had just turned 21. At the time, the redhead was a co-ed while Thomas was trying to win a seat in the United States Senate. Landon Clements was also said to have met Thomas when she was in college. At that time, Thomas was in his 30s, though Landon denied ever being more than close friends. And lastly, we have Olivia, who just revealed she had a hookup with Thomas shortly after she graduated. Thomas clearly has a type—young, naive, and recent graduates.
Thomas Has Power
Like most politicians, Thomas, a former South Carolina Treasurer, had major connections and easily got whatever his heart desired. Thomas lost his position in 2007 after being indicted on a federal cocaine distribution charge, but he hasn’t fallen far. Even though the man can’t vote thanks to his drug convictions, he still has some sway within the Republican party.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Thomas has around $6 million to play with. Along with family money, Thomas founded the commercial real estate company, Ravenel Development Corporation. When any of his conquests saw him out on King Street, he probably came across as a man about town. Thomas has a huge ego, and to keep it happy, he always had to have the prettiest and youngest girl on his arm. His money and power made it easy to attract such women.
Is Thomas Trying to Get Back On The Show?
After the news of Olivia’s tryst with Thomas broke, the Aiken, SC resident immediately spoke out to All About the Tea. Thomas said he felt “used” by Olivia, who claimed their hookup happened when she was 20, while Thomas was three decades her senior. Thomas did share he had sexual relations with Olivia, but contested her version of events. “I was in Atlanta the weekend of January 14, 2017, for my nephew’s wedding” he said. “Olivia was living in Atlanta at the time, pursuing her acting career. She was 24 years old (at the time) NOT 20, like she claimed on the reunion.”
Thomas revealed he would have “never acknowledged having sex with her until they brought me up at the reunion.” The father of two went on to share more details of the night. “I reached out to her, and to my surprise, she was very inviting.” Thomas claimed. “We went on a date and hung out at various bars around Atlanta. After that night, I never called her again. It was a one-time deal.”
Thomas Is Not a Victim
Personally, Thomas comes across as someone who likes the chase. There is no way I am buying that he was a victim in any of his encounters. Thomas couldn’t help himself as he tried to play the world’s smallest violin, claiming, “She used me! Olivia was in Atlanta pursuing an acting career and she wanted to get on that show Southern Charm, that’s why she befriended me.” Thomas is delusional and probably wanted the hook-up as much, if not more, than poor Olivia.
