Listen, I will tell you straight up: I am no fan of Kim Kardashian, let alone any of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. In my opinion, they got famous off the back of their sister’s sex tape, and it seems stupid that we, as a civilization, agreed to make them famous. But I digress. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City showed us that anyone with a serious drive and possible narcissistic personality disorder could become a housewife. Enter Monica Garcia.
Now I get the allure of wanting to be famous. Real Housewives stars seem to have it all—fun trips, a glam squad, and dirty secrets that could end them up in jail. But Monica seemed to be mistaken when she walked on with her snowflake because while she may be a big deal in her own mind, she is most assuredly not at the same status as Kim, as much as I hate to admit it.
Monica the Entrepreneur
Kim has a wide range of business ventures, including SKIMS, KKW Fragrance, SKKN, and many more. Currently, SKIMS is Kim’s number one investment, with social media influencers often showing off their long maxi dress that sucks everything in. Despite Kim’s appropriation of the word, ‘kimono,’ which was the brand’s original name, the star has done well after launching in 2019. SKIMS is now a multi-billion dollar company with a vast range that includes smoothing underwear, loungewear, and pajamas.
Monica has BreaBaby, which are unique, organic swaddle blankets. The blanket company notes that with every swaddle purchase through their GET LOVE GIIVE LOVE program, a baby in need will be helped. However, during part one of the reunion, Monica was called out for lack of CEO leadership. According to Heather Gay, she ordered many blankets for her friends, but none had been delivered. Monica noted, “When COVID hit, I just shut everything down…I want to restart it.” When asked if her website was active, she said, “Yes.”
Monica went as far as to note, “I didn’t expect people to buy that much, so I had to re-order, and I refunded a lot of orders, actually.” Now, I don’t think Kim ever had a problem making sure she fulfilled orders and made that coin.
Looks Can Be Deceiving
Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but it must be exhausting trying to look like one of the most recognized celebrities in the world. Both women have had some work done, but only one can actually pay their bill at the end of the procedures.
There are times I like to take a look at OG Kim and remind myself that I’m not ugly; I’m just poor. Before plastic surgery, Kim looked pretty normal, nothing special. Kim has only ever admitted to having Botox and trying a vampire facial, but fans have guessed that she has also had breast implants, rhinoplasty, and much more.
Monica’s looks are very Kardashianesque. The mother of four daughters has had fillers and injectables. It is unclear whether Monica has gone under the knife, but her ability to contour is on par with Kimmy K. Currently, Monica is in a legal battle with Heather’s BeautyLab for not paying her outstanding bill. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think Kim has ever let her bills get too out of hand with bill collectors at her door.
From Assistant to Superstar?
During the reunion, Monica became extremely heated as she shared that her star power is what made RHOSLC Season 4 so grand. I would argue that it was her lying and actually being the troll account known as Reality Von Tease, but I digress. Monica told Andy Cohen, “Fu*king Kim Kardashian was a fu*king assistant, and look at that bitch now. I can fully admit that the whole reason why I was an assistant and putting up with that sh*t was as a stepping stone and as a learning experience.”
Yes, Kim was an assistant, but that is probably where the comparison ends. Kim’s sex tape with Ray J was tawdry, but after a while, people forgot about it mainly because other celebs also had their One Night in Paris leaked. But Monica is very much a horse of a different color who lies consistently to her new friends and actively makes their lives a living hell for years. Even though I really dislike Kim for how she became famous, I don’t think she would do that kind of thing all in the name of fame.
