Coming to America was nothing compared to the reception that Garcelle Beauvais is now receiving as a star on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The actress is more relatable than most of the other Bravo housewives, especially since she keeps her life simple and uncluttered by drama or materialistic things.
Garcelle is great at flying below the radar until it is in her best interest to speak out. These traits, combined with her bubbly personality and ability to read others, are what have put her in the lead for favorite 90210 housewives.
Garcelle Knows How to Shade
During a recent episode of RHOBH Garcelle sat idly by as Sutton Stracke did her version of girl math when it came to the state of Kyle Richards’ love life. Sutton found herself down a rabbit hole as she noticed Kyle had a brand new ring. Garcelle joked in her confessional, “The only time I noticed jewelry was after the robbery Dorit still had hers.” Snap! Today, I am thankful for Garcelle!
Who could forget the time that Garcelle shaded Erika Jayne after the singer was extremely rude to her teenage son? After the polarizing episode aired last season, Garcelle took to Twitter to give a shout-out to her sons, noting, “You show respect to people even when they don’t deserve it. Respect is a reflection of your character, not theirs.” She is most definitely talking about you, Erika.
Garcelle Stands Alone
It hasn’t gone unnoticed that Garcelle is usually standing alone on an island with very little support from the other women. Even though on more than one occasion Garcelle has stepped up for her friends, the same can’t be said for her castmates. During the Season 12 reunion, Garcelle was treated abysmally by Andy Cohen and the rest of the housewives. While talking about her memoir, Lisa Rinna admitted she tossed it into the trash. Garcelle, who was visibly upset, was then sidelined by Andy, who asked, “Do you recycle?”
The willpower this woman had to not cry or lash out was immense. Season 13 has also shown Garcelle once again having to defend her feelings. While explaining how she felt she didn’t have a safe space amongst the women, Dorit Kemsley made the conversation about her. Leaving Garcelle with the only option of removing herself from the situation. However, Garcelle’s cool head always prevails, making her a fan favorite.
Garcelle Isn’t Afraid to Voice an Opinion
You know when the entire cast is veering left, but one decides to go, right? That is one hundred percent Garcelle’s lane. Over her time on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Garcelle has point-blank refused to blindly support Erika even when everyone was afraid of her, stayed in a hotel to avoid COVID-19 during a cast trip, and fearlessly opened up to the women while in Del Mar. Garcelle is truly the voice of the people, who keeps her integrity even when she disagrees with the others.
What is admirable about Garcelle, especially this season, is that she isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. For multiple seasons, she seemed to censor herself for fear of what fans would think, but now that she is speaking up more, she is being embraced. I’m going to need Garcelle to keep questioning her castmates because I am here for it.
Garcelle Is the Friend We All Need
The way Garcelle defends Sutton is commendable. It is rare to find people who truly have someone else’s back, especially when it comes to airing their lives on national TV. Garcelle has also continued to stand up for Denise Richards even though she is no longer on the show.
This personality trait goes to prove that Garcelle is not swayed by others’ opinions and that loyalty never goes out of style. No way would Garcelle throw away a 20-year friendship like Lisa did. This characteristic, among many others, is what is making Garcelle so enjoyable to watch, with most of us hoping she returns for Season 14.
