Actress Denise Richards joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during Season 9. It was obvious from the jump that Denise wasn’t like her fellow cast members. For example, she often dressed down and didn’t employ a glam squad. It was shocking to her always put-together co-stars.
But Denise departed after Season 10. The reason? It was because her friend, Lisa Rinna, and most of the cast ganged up on her. The group accused her of allegedly having a sexual encounter with RHOBH alum Brandi Glanville. At least, that is what Brandi said.
Denise denied it, but the cast called her a liar. This spelled the end of Denise’s longtime friendship with Lisa, and her time on the show.
Now that Lisa has retired from the franchise, Denise made some guest appearances on Season 13. This reminded us of why RHOBH needs Denise Richards to return and grab her diamond.
Denise Has a Down-to-Earth Charm
While the cast vacationed in the Bahamas, they set up a time to meet for drinks. The ladies wore dresses, while Denise strolled in wearing shorts and a tank top. It was refreshing to see someone who was so at ease being herself.
According to OK!, Denise shared her thoughts about fashion and the show. “I just thought of me going to dinner or lunch with my girlfriends. I am not going to wear a frickin ballgown in the Bahamas,” she said.
During the second season, Kyle Richards called Denise “a ragamuffin.” But Denise didn’t care. Her co-stars used glam constantly, while Denise used glam if she was working. This ragamuffin wanted to inject some actual reality into the show, and viewers were glad to see it. I think that RHOBH could use some of Denise’s relaxed vibe.
She Isn’t Afraid To Let Viewers Into Her Life (And Marriage)
Denise was an open book about her marriage to Aaron Phypers. In fact, their wedding was filmed for Season 9 of the show. People reported that the couple, along with their wedding planner, whipped together their ceremony in just 48 hours.
Erika Jayne, Lisa Vanderpump, Dorit Kemsley, and Teddi Mellencamp sweltered outside while waiting for the bride. Denise was so chill she showed up over an hour late for her wedding. After all, she is “F*cking Denise Richards.” The bride wore a white lace romper with a long tulle skirt. Very on-brand for Denise.
Denise was also very open about her sex life with Aaron. She told her co-stars all about arranging “a happy ending” for Aaron during his massage. Sometimes, this mom of three’s discussions stunned her co-stars. Her open personality is another reason why RHOBH would benefit from Denise’s return as a housewife.
Denise Triggers Erika Jayne and Dorit Kemsley
During Kyle’s much-hyped weed dinner party, Denise and Camille Grammer were guests. Their former co-stars weren’t expecting this blast from the past. Dorit was still salty that Denise disappeared from the group. She even asked Denise if she missed her former co-stars.
But Denise had some questions for Erika. She asked Erika what she did to cause Erika to treat her differently. Her remarks were vague at best.
Erika seemed confused and asked Denise what she was referring to. “Watch the show,” Denise replied. Erika remained bewildered, and upset because Denise was ruining her high. While the guests at the dinner may have hated Denise’s antics, it was reality television gold.
Her Wild Behavior at Kyle Richards’ Weed Dinner
From the moment that Denise arrived at Kyle’s dinner party looking disheveled, she seemed off. Fans wondered if Denise had a drink before the party started. But she also mentioned that she wasn’t feeling well. Denise didn’t partake of any THC-infused food, so the cause of her behavior was a mystery.
But her facial expressions and comments were entertaining. When guests asked why Kyle hadn’t yet joined the table, Denise asked, “Did she have too much of the hors d’oeuvres? Well, you know what I’m talking about,” she added, twisting her lips to one side.
After her interrogation of Erika went nowhere, Denise insisted that Erika knew exactly what she was talking about. After having a verbal smackdown with Dorit over her upside-down jacket, Denise left the party early. But her guest appearance was nothing short of iconic.
Seeing Denise was a reminder of what the show is lacking. She brought a fresh and unassuming presence to the franchise. She was always true to herself. Other cast members, like Kyle and Dorit, have been accused of not showing their actual lives.
That is why RHOBH needs Denise Richards, and her upside-down jacket, to return next season.
