Whether you believe Kelly Bensimon got a bad edit or she was, in fact, that cuckoo when appearing on the Real Housewives of New York City, one thing is for sure: her behavior has been extremely concerning at the best of times. While it is clear that the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip star resides in a jellybean jungle, her perception of reality is sometimes warped.
Kelly Stops Traffic
First impressions are everything, and Kelly sure entered with a bang when she joined the Real Housewives of New York City for Season 2. In the model’s first-ever Bravo scene, viewers watched as she ran in traffic, yes, NYC traffic, as if she was running with the bulls in Pamplona.
From the time they can walk, every kid is taught to look both ways before crossing the street and to never run out into the middle of rush hour traffic. Yet here was Kelly, frolicking as if the world didn’t exist around her. I hate to admit it, but I think about Kelly running in front of a cab a lot. More than I would actually like to admit, to be honest.
The move was so out there, and I don’t care what she says; no Big Apple native voluntarily runs down Fifth Avenue in the middle of the street. Kelly once said, “Running in New York City is one of the most exhilarating things you can do. I’m with everybody. The bikers, the taxis, everybody.” Mind you; I am convinced she also invented parkour as she hurdled over sidewalk disturbances and galloped into a crosswalk.

Kelly’s Brass Monkey Mean Girl Rant
Kelly clearly felt some way about her co-star, Bethenny Frankel, and she didn’t mince her words when she invited her foe to the Brass Monkey for a proper reading. Kelly came in hot and 30 minutes late as she berated Bethenny, explaining why the two would never be friends. It was odd to hear a grown adult tell cameras that she felt her enemy “needed a time out.” Bethenny deserves some props for sitting through the three-ring circus, to be honest.
Kelly started off strong in her stance, saying, “I want to make something perfectly clear with you so we are on the same page. We are not friends. I am up here, and you are down there.” The conversation then spiraled as the model became frustrated with Bethenny’s friend/photographer. Kelly jabbed again with, “Your attitude is for kids. If you want to play with me, you come up to me; I don’t come down to you.”
The whole conversation was a “Kel-amity” and problematic at best.
Kelly’s PSA
Back in 2010, Kelly shared some very questionable PSAs on her YouTube account that could only be seen as dangerous. The model launched what seemed to be a bizarre quest to right the wrongs as she claimed she was a victim of “systematic bullying.” With a Joker-like smile, Kelly proceeded to say, “Four against one is never okay.”
“Whether you’re a 4-year-old or a 10-year-old, or a 40-year-old woman, being bullied or ganged up on is never okay,” Kelly said. She urged watchers to help if they ever saw someone being ganged up on. However, the message seemed to lack sincerity, as most felt it was just a PR stunt.
Kelly in Marrakech
During the cast trip to Morocco, Alex McCord stomped down the stairs in her Herman Munster shoes only to be sidelined by Kelly’s odd behavior. Now, while Scary Island was weird, Kelly genuinely seemed mean in Marrakech. As Alex tried to defend herself, she was constantly interrupted and railroaded by the mother of two. Kelly then proceeded to berate Alex using trigger terms like “odd” and “authentic,” all the while reminding Alex is has been running a trip of a lifetime.
Kelly should have taken her own advice as she told Alex to “create the calm,” whatever that means. Toward the end, Kelly stormed off to her room, knocking on her henna tattoo. In that moment, Kelly mentally transported herself back to Scary Island, choosing to go after Alex. Fuming, she laid into Alex, screaming, “It’s not about my tattoo! Observe, but don’t participate.”
No amount of eye-closing could make this behavior okay.
