He may not be present on camera, but Michael Kelcourse is still an integral part of Southern Charm. As Patricia Altschul’s former butler for 18 years, Michael was widely recognized for his impeccable standard and skills in the art of martini-making.
Michael suffered a spinal cord stroke in 2021. Consequently, the highly rare, yet malignant stroke, left him with life-changing limitations. Patricia and her beloved butler were forced to part ways. He moved to a center in Florida to focus on rehabilitation.
Though they speak on Zoom regularly, and the professional butler often gets a mention on Southern Charm, Patricia and Michael have not met in person since the latter left Charleston.
Fans were delighted to see that pair united
Missing that personal touch that one can’t get over a video call, Patricia made the trip to visit Michael recently. She shared an Instagram post with fans to commemorate the event.
“First there was Covid, then my back fracture so this is the first I’ve ever been able to spend time with Michael,” Patricia wrote to caption a picture of the duo having lunch together.
The Southern Charm matriarch is sipping a burgundy color martini that seems to match her choice of ring for the day. The rest of her ensemble is black. Beside her, Michael is wearing a white and red striped button-down shirt. A blanket of similar design is covering his legs.
“Mrs. A visiting was the greatest gift I ever got,” he posted in the comments.
Southern Charm master deflector Austen Kroll also praised the meeting. “Love this,” he added in the comments. “Got an incredible message from [Michael], last week. Told me, amongst other things, that I had greatness ahead, and that he loved that I called him ‘snarky’ at [BravoCon 2023].”
Fans jumped in to send well-wishes and to praise Michael’s positivity.
