Captain Sandy Yawn is getting married. She has graced our screens on Below Deck Mediterranean since Season 2 of the hit reality TV series. Fans have followed her story and been inspired by her success in a male-dominated industry.
She’s spoken of her battle with addiction and living sober as a means to help viewers. And in her personal life, fans have cheered her and her fiancée, Leah Shafer, on for the past five years. And now, the couple have to decide whether to further share their story with fans or not.
Captain Sandy wants to “include the fans,” but does that mean she’s getting married on Bravo?
In an exclusive statement to E! News November 15, Sandy revealed that she left that decision up to her fiancée.
“Leah’s in charge,” the reality TV star revealed, “because I said I just can’t do that.”
Certainly, Sandy’s critics would say that she courts attention more than necessary and micro-manages her crew in a ploy to get more screen time. Some may not be surprised if the marriage was televised. But Sandy did confirm that she wanted to include fans in some way.
“Yes, we want to include the fans, absolutely,” she dished. “We’re working out the details.”
Sandy proposed beachside in September and Leah said yes. At the time, she gushed, “I have been thinking about marrying Leah for years. I knew from the minute I met her, but the timing had to be right. I wanted to make sure we could truly do life together first.”
Once Leah accepted Sandy’s proposal, the reality TV star spoke of her happiness.
“My heart exploded! It was filled beyond capacity of anything I could ever imagine. Somehow I feel closer than I did before, and I can’t explain it. There is an energy that I have never experienced in my life. I love her beyond; as Leah says Yawn beyond,” Sandy reacted.
