Kyle Richards has only just started to use the dreaded D word, and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s separation has already gotten a bit messy. For months, both Kyle and Mauricio Umansky denied they were living separate lives. However, during BravoCon 2023, Kyle dropped a bomb as she broke down about her so-called fairytale marriage. She revealed that their 27-year union was hanging on by a thread.
Throughout the media blasts and even the new season, both Kyle and Mauricio have been accused of stepping out of their marital bliss and cheating. The Agency owner has been called out for a possible affair with Dorit Kemsley and his Dancing With The Stars partner, Emma Slater, after he was seen holding hands with the latter. At the same time, the child actor has been linked to country singer Morgan Wade. Both have denied any secret romance.
There Isn’t a Prenup
Lo and behold, one of the wealthiest couples in the 90210 area code may not have signed a prenuptial agreement before their union. I can literally hear every good divorce lawyer in the world slapping their heads in unison.
In 2017, while speaking on Then and Now, Kyle shared, “My husband and I didn’t have two nickels to rub together when we got married, so a prenup was not an option or even talked about.” TMZ confirmed that while neither Kyle nor Mauricio have started any divorce proceedings, they also don’t have any formal paperwork regarding their finances.
It just can’t be ignored that both of them amassed a fortune between their two career paths. Kyle has millions thanks to the RHOBH and her acting gigs. Mauricio is set to be worth $100 million with almost $5 billion in real estate sales, according to the outlet. Mo first worked in the fashion industry on his own clothing line before meeting Kyle. However, once they married, he started to work for Rick Hilton’s real estate company, Hilton & Hyland. It will be interesting to see what one another claims once they lawyer up.
Kyle’s Shiny Assets
Both have assets that would have been brought into the marriage. Kyle has a lot of her mother’s jewelry, including the famous diamond ring that was once stolen. That rock alone is reportedly worth one million dollars. Kyle also inherited her mother’s lavish home in Los Angeles and the Palm Springs home she shared with her sister.
The couple shares their Encino home, which they bought in 2017 for $8.25 million. Kyle and Mauricio also bought their La Quinta, California abode in 2014 for $2.35 million, per the LA Times. Their net worths could both be tested if push comes to shove during Kyle and Mauricio’s divorce.
They Could Fight Over Custody of Their Children
Only one of their daughters is a minor, with Portia Umanksy just having turned 15. Both parents would be suitable to have custody of their child, with a judge possibly favoring the idea of Portia living with Kyle. However, Mo could argue that his wife tends to travel a lot for her movie roles and wouldn’t be a stay-at-home mother. That being said, the new season has also shown Mo being extremely busy with his own park, traveling to Aspen, Portugal, and the East Coast in one month.
Infidelity Could Be Used in Court
Even though both have denied any cheating, that doesn’t mean there isn’t truth to the rumors. As we say with any Real Housewives star, where there is smoke, there is fire. If Mauricio or Kyle had any inkling of the other being unfaithful, they could hire private detectives, go through phone records, and subpoena witnesses to help with their case. The move would be messy, but there would be a clear winner.
Right now, the couple is choosing to play fair, with neither having hired lawyers as of yet. For once, it would be nice to see an amicable divorce play out, but all is fair when it comes to money. The age-old expression jumps to mind, “What is mine is mine, and what is yours is mine.” Here is hoping both find solid representation.
