News publications and Summer House viewers were more than happy to give Lindsay Hubbard her space after Carl Radke dumped her three months before their wedding. No one wanted to push the issue and search for answers as the professional publicist was grieving the loss of her happily ever after.
Friends and co-stars speculated as to what happened. The former couple briefly dated during Season 4 of Summer House, and rekindled the romance two seasons later after initially deciding not to pursue a relationship. Their engagement was included during Season 7. And coming full circle, the break up was filmed as well.
Now, Lindsay is ready to comment. And she revealed her feelings about the first and last conversation she had with Carl post-split.
Carl and Lindsay spoke before her trip to the Bahamas
“We attempted to sit down right before I went to the Bahamas [on what was supposed to be my bachelorette trip] and he was incapable of taking accountability,” Lindsay exclusively told Us Weekly. “I’m not gonna sit through a conversation with somebody who has no empathy or realization or self-awareness to understand what he did.”
And on the list of offenses, Carl phoned producers to capture the moment he broke up with Lindsay. Bravo cameras had already finished filming the season.
“It was a quick in-and-out conversation. But that was it,” she said of confronting Carl after he ended the engagement. “And other than that, right now the only time we speak is through text and it’s when he needs to come to the apartment or when I’m traveling.”
To film or Not to film …
Speaking of Bravo cameras, there is the logistical issue of whether the two would be able to film together post-split. They are core cast members of Summer House after all.
“At this point in time, I would not be comfortable sharing a house with him after what he did. I mean, this man — I can never trust him again,” Lindsay revealed. “The way that he called the producers and set up the cameras — [he] blindsided me and humiliated me in such a public way. I’m not comfortable at this point in time.”
She added, “The door is one thousand percent closed in a romantic way. And, for now, in a friendship way [too]. Maybe in 10 years, I’ll consider being an acquaintance. But no, it’s closed on him completely for me.”
There’s little good news here. But Lindsay found the process of unburdening cathartic.
“I wanna have this weight off my shoulders. It really is to me that last little part of the healing process so I can free myself and really move on,” Lindsay concluded.
