Lindsay Hubbard Breaks Silence on ‘Humiliating’ Split From Carl Radke

When Carl Radke called off his wedding to Summer House co-star Lindsay Hubbard, he rocked the Bravo world. He pulled the plug less than three months before the couple was set to say their vows. Lindsay and Carl’s split was tough to stomach.

Carl sent a letter to friends and family members notifying them that the wedding was canceled. “The fact of the matter is Lindsay is devastated and I’m crushed with how all this transpired,” Carl wrote.

“I was completely blindsided. He blew up my entire life,” Lindsay told US Weekly. “I was crying, I was angry, and I had to find closure on my own. Now I’m at a place where I feel really good about moving on.”

She continued, “The way that Carl handled everything was such an absolute betrayal of my trust, and when that happens, it makes it easier to pick yourself up and put yourself out there again.” While Lindsay was stunned by Carl’s decision, she noted a change in his demeanor during the last two weeks of the summer. “There was a lot of combativeness and aggression on his end, and I was very confused,” Lindsay said.

Meanwhile, Carl decided to break up with Lindsay on camera. “It was absolutely humiliating. It would’ve been one thing if this conversation happened over the summer during the normal filming schedule,” Lindsay explained.

“But for [Carl] to call up producers and then set up cameras and manipulate me into sitting down [so he could break up with me] after we’d already wrapped is scary. The whole world found out within 30 minutes of me,” she added. Not cool, Carl. Not cool.

Lindsay turned to her friends for support, including Danielle Olivera. “She really has been so incredible in this entire process. I had a great time rebuilding my friendships with different girls in the house, and they were there for me throughout the summer,” Lindsay said.

She dismissed the notion that the duo was moving too fast. After all, they had been friends for eight years. But that makes it even harder for Lindsay. “And even now, if I have feelings that pop up in my mind or heart, it’s more that I lost my best friend than my fiancé,” she stated.

The public relations specialist left canceling the wedding to her ex. “Since Carl decided to call off the wedding, he can be responsible for sending the email [to the guests]. Why would it be on me? This was not my decision,” Lindsay remarked. As for her engagement ring? Lindsay asked her jeweler to sell it so she could “make up for all the lost money on the wedding.”

Lindsay is keeping their apartment. She said, “I love my apartment. I spent a lot of time, money, and effort to make this home comfortable for us, for him to then burn it down.”

She will spend November 17, which would have been their wedding day, working on her book. And Lindsay has zero regrets about her relationship with Carl.

“I absolutely will never have regrets about being with him [and] loving somebody with everything that I have. Every experience, you learn and grow and navigate better the next time,” Lindsay stated.

Summer House is expected to return to Bravo in 2024.
