Randall Emmett is facing yet another scandal besmirching his name. No, not by his ex-fiance and Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent. This time it’s for his lack of budgeting skills on a film he was working on. The film in question is called Boss Level, starring Mel Gibson. The film was released on Hulu in 2020. No word on whether or not anyone has actually watched it.
In court documents obtained by Radar Online, Randall is being sued by a company named Coaction Specialty Management Company along with Gotham Insurance Company. Randall’s producing partner George Furla, and actor Frank Grillo are also named in the suit. The lawsuit accuses them of intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, conspiracy to defraud, and breach of contract. That sounds pretty serious.
The suit alleges that Randall and his partner agreed to provide the movie by a certain date. Gotham then provided a completion bond. The suit explained, “A completion bond is a guarantee that a film will be completed and delivered on time and on budget and, if the film goes over budget, the guarantor, in this case [Gotham,] is required to pay the overages.” Gotham claims that they paid out over $3.4 million towards the film after it went over budget. And that the parties had originally settled on $43 million as their total budget. Which is something that Randall and company didn’t stick to.

Despite the original budget issued by Gotham being $47 million, they told Randall and the other defendants it needed to be cut down to $43 million instead. This was the only way Gotham would be able to secure financing on the $43 million. Gotham claims that the producers made false representations to force Gotham to issue the completion bond.
The suit continued, “Defendants did not intend to adhere to the Approved Budget and intended to spend sums far in excess of the approved amount, as evidenced by, among other things, the fact that the Film quickly went over budget by approximately $3,400,000, about the same amount Defendants had previously purported to cut from the budget.”

Gotham’s suit also alleges that Randall and his team made false representations and is suing for unspecified damages, in addition to punitive damages.
This is the second lawsuit to drop on Randall in less than a week. Just a few days ago, it was reported that Randall was being sued for $287K in unpaid loans. Randall has yet to respond to either suit.
