On the latest episode of Real Housewives of Orange County, sh** hit the fan. The low simmering tension between Shannon Beador and Gina Kirschenheiter finally boiled over. Thanks to Emily Simpson fanning the flames, the two have been going at it since the start of the season. Gina is basking in her new friendship with Heather Dubrow. And she has definitely shown less patience for Shannon this season. With the release of her new skincare line, she seems to think that Shannon is jealous of her life trajectory.
But Shannon says that’s not the case. As reported by Reality Blurb, Shannon appeared on an episode of the RHOC: After Show to defend herself. Shannon began, “I think that quite a few of the things that Gina’s said or done have kind of, given me pause.” She continued, “I am so proud of her for where she’s come after her divorce, where she’s come mentally and with the confidence she’s gained, physically, she looks more beautiful than she’s ever looked and she’s coming up with this business plan. So I’m very very proud of her and supportive of that.”
Unfortunately, as proud as she is, Shannon feels like Gina is lacking basic humility. Said Shannon, “I think being humble is an important part of who you should be. So I feel there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and there are many times that I feel that Gina goes the other way.”
One instance that Shannon pointed to is when Gina questioned how many friends Shannon has. Which just felt below the belt given the conversation. Shannon recalled, “For her turn to me and say, ‘Do you even have any friends, Shannon?’ That’s probably one of the most cruel things you could say to a person.” She added, “Do you think I rented the friends that were at my home when I invited you to parties, that I was out with when you were single and I would invite you to come out with my friends and I? I just think comments like that that are cruel to others are arrogant.”
In retrospect, Shannon thinks that Gina was likely triggered by being called arrogant. Shannon explained, “It set her off. She can’t handle somebody giving her their opinion of her actions that aren’t positive.” Shannon concluded by noting that sometimes, people are “going to hear things [they] don’t want to hear.”
