Andy Cohen Receives Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Love him or hate him, you gotta give it to Andy Cohen. Thanks to him, we have Real Housewives, a franchise that has changed reality tv forever. The Watch What Happens Live host is no longer involved in crucial parts of the show, like casting. But he hasn’t strayed very far from the housewives themselves. He hosts every reunion and hilariously grills them on WWHL. He even discusses all things housewives on his Sirius XM show, Radio Andy. In short, after 3o years in the entertainment industry, Andy is a pop culture icon.

Now he has the star to prove it. As reported by Page Six, Andy received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! For the ceremony, he had close friend John Mayer by his side. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Lisa Rinna and Garcelle Beauvais also joined in the fun. Lisa and Garcelle honored him in a joint speech that was both sweet and funny.

Lisa gushed, “Our ‘mazel of the day’ goes to you, Andy Cohen. To all the amazing things you’ve accomplished and all the amazing things you will accomplish in the future.” Garcelle added, “And we’re not just saying that because you’re our boss.” Rinna also used a line she said during Andy’s 2019 baby shower. She yelled, “Get up for Andy Cohen and stand up on a table for his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame now!”

John was up next to give a speech for his “dear friend.” He joked about what kind of housewife Andy would be and referenced the cast of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. He mused that after Jen Shah’s infamous arrest, instead of a Lisa Barlow, “Andy is a forever Heather Gay.” John also said that Andy is an “icon” and a “rule breaker.” He went on, “He’s an A-lister, who parties like a B-lister with the free spirit of a C-lister.”

John also made it a point to highlight Andy’s LGBTQ+ advocacy over the years. John sweetly noted, “Because of Andy, everyone in America has at least one gay friend. [He is] softening hearts and opening minds all while giving the world these things to enjoy.” Andy loved the speech so much he even asked his friend for a paper copy to keep.

Andy’s acceptance speech was full of jokes as he was clearly in a celebratory mood. Andy quipped that the day would be declared “Andy Cohen Day.” He said the rules were “tequila in the water fountain” and “nobody has to work past 1 o’clock.” He then told the crowd how thankful he was for living out his dreams to work in tv. He added that he felt like he “made it” even back when he was working at CBS News. He started out only making $15K a year.

To celebrate the moment, Andy was joined by his parents, sister, son, college roomie and best friend. Congrats, Andy!
