Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King hasn’t been lucky in the love department. In May of 2021, Meghan’s divorce from her ex, Jim “Dad Jeans” Edmonds was finalized. That was a nightmare relationship, which included such greatest hits as Jim allegedly cheating with the nanny.
In October of 2021, RHOC alum Meghan made it Instagram official with her new boo, Cuffe Biden Owens. Cuffe is President Joe Biden’s nephew. That must have really put Jim’s dad jeans in a twist.
After a mere three weeks of dating, Meghan and Cuffe tied the knot on October 11, 2021. Meghan shared the details of their speedy courtship. “[We] texted for a day or two, then spent five straight hours on the phone the first time we spoke,” she shared. “By the time that call ended, Cuffe was booked and packed for a flight to St. Louis that took off in about eight hours. Within a week, we were back on the East Coast, meeting his family, and starting to plan our future together.”
Meghan and Cuffe wed at Cuffe’s parents’ home in Pennsylvania. Both President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden were present at the nuptials. “Our wedding was about two things for us,” Meghan shared. “Our love for and commitment to each other, and our family — each of our families, and the new very large and very tight family that we were bonding together by getting married. That’s it.”
Meghan even gave her ex-husband Jim a heads-up about her upcoming marriage, which was classy. After all, they do share three children. Jim’s reaction? Not very classy. “I wondered, ‘Is she pregnant?’ But is it even possible to know that just four weeks after the first date?” Jim commented. He’s a real charmer.
Meghan’s fans began to wonder about the state of Cuffe and Meghan’s union because Cuffe was oddly missing from Meghan’s social media. That was the first hint of trouble in paradise. A source claimed that Meghan “told friends they broke up.”

On December 27, 2021, Meghan confirmed the split in her Instagram Story. “I am rattled. This situation is profoundly devastating,” Meghan wrote. “This is obviously not what I imagined when I made my vows — and I’m shocked and saddened by the way things turned out. I am moving forward with my children as we privately process our pain and begin to let go of shattered dreams.” Meghan added, “At this time I ask for your grace and gentle kindness as I navigate this labyrinth of grief with my family.”
E! News reported that a source claimed that the couple lived in different states, and that played a role in the demise of their marriage. The insider commented, “It had to do with distance. Meghan cannot uproot the children from where they currently live and he lives and works in California.”
Meghan lives in St. Louis with her three kids, daughter Aspen King Edmonds and twin sons Hart and Hayes. Cuffe, who is an attorney, lives in Los Angeles. “It was not a relationship rooted in that much practicality. She had hopes of being able to spend more time in California, but the kids cannot just be moved,” the source remarked.
Meghan issued an exclusive statement to Page Six denying that distance played in her split from Cuffe. “Cuffe lived with me. We didn’t have any distance,” Meghan said.

“We lived together every day since the day we met. There was no Cali/MO distance,” Meghan stated. “There was zero long distance whatsoever.”
According to Page Six, Cuffe was Meghan’s third husband. She was married to Jim from 2014 until 2019. Meghan was married to Brad McDill, her boyfriend from college, from 2007 to 2011.
Cuffe has not returned Page Six’s request for a comment.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s former RHOC co-star Kelly Dodd and her husband, Rick Leventhal, won’t miss an opportunity to kick Meghan while she is down. The couple discussed Meghan and Cuffe’s breakup on their Rick & Kelly Unmasked podcast. They sent a prize to the Patreon subscriber who predicted that Meghan and Cuffe’s marriage would be kaput in “less than six months.”
