Bethenny Frankel Will Only Return To Real Housewives If There’s “Some Element Of Authenticity”

After Bethenny Frankel left Real Housewives of New York for the second time, it seemed like she was finally done. Or maybe not. The entrepreneur and philanthropist has had some misses in her career since housewives. But nearly three months ago, she maintained that she wasn’t coming back. At the time she said, “I don’t want to go back on ‘Housewives.’ It’s not where I am right now. I respect that I came from there… I’m moving forward.” She also claimed she didn’t even watch the show. Which let’s face it, she wasn’t exactly missing out.

But now she’s changing her tune on a possible return. As reported by Reality Blurb, Bethenny took to a recent episode of her podcast to discuss. Bethenny addressed the shows many changed and alluded to the idea that the current cast is fake. She stated,“Give me real and authentic, somewhat authentic [series].” She also added that in her first season, the women weren’t spending all kinds of money on glam. Well, duh. Everyone saw how they needed to up their game as the show got more and more popular. Bethenny included.

She did say that she might return to the show, under certain conditions. Bethenny admitted, “If could there be some element of authenticity that I could cling onto. And not feel like I’m gonna go shoot for four months and make a f**kton of money.” As for money, Bethenny made it clear that she thinks the cast deserves their salaries because the franchise is a “battlefield.” Especially because she thinks the cast is being slammed by the press. Which they are.

Bethenny added that she misses the humor that took place on earlier seasons of RHONY. Said Bethenny, “Even right now, it’s a different type of outlook, it’s a different type of humor that I miss. It’s running commentary. You can be judgmental. Humor always wins with the exception of saying something inappropriate or racist or off-color or something politically incorrect. Correct humor wins.”

She continued, “You end up having enemies you would never have had, were you not on that show. You have cross-franchise enemies because of things you’re commenting on. This is a challenging workplace thing.” She should know after all the sh** she talked about Erika Jayne in the press.

Bethenny went on, “I’ve had people that I used to be friends with air something about me on Watch What Happens Live. I’m reading it for the first time in print. It happened recently twice. That’s the name of this game. You get into it. If you have a friend who’s also in this league, it’s going to be challenging . . . Find me somebody who’s gone the distance.”

To make her point, Bethenny referenced all the relationships that crumbled on other franchises. She noted, “Teresa [Giudice] is enemies with Danielle [Staub], then she became a friend of Danielle. Teresa was good friends with Dina [Manzo]. And then that broke up. Best friends of Caroline Manzo that broke up. NeNe [Leakes] came in with Kim Zolciak,that broke up. I came in with Jill [Zarin] that broke up. I became friends with Carole [Radziwill] that broke up. Carole’s best friends with Tinsley [Mortimer]. That broke up . . . Let’s just not disguise it as women supporting women.”

As for what she’s done outside of the show, she determined that those ventures weren’t really for her. She admitted, “I didn’t like to do a talk show. I don’t like to do a lot of formatting, a lot of formatted shows. And it’s not the women not supporting women because, frankly, it’s every woman for themselves on those shows. And when people leave the shows, they’re not friends with each other anymore. You have to have allies.”
