Whitney Port’s intuition about her most recent pregnancy, tragically, came to pass. Two weeks after publicly announcing that she and husband Tim Rosenman were expecting, Whitney took to social media again to share the tragic news that she had lost the baby at nine weeks pregnant.
Sadly, The Hills New Beginnings alum was skeptical that she would carry the baby to term. She had gotten medical feedback early on that indicated she was carrying “another unhealthy pregnancy.” So her initial announcement was not one of joy and expectation, but concern and worry.
Unfortunately, those concerns were warranted. According to People, Whitney and Tom found out Tuesday that their doctor was unable to locate the baby’s heartbeat. “I’m so sad to say this,” Whitney wrote in an Instagram story Wednesday, “and some of you may have watched on our latest YouTube episode but we lost the baby. We found out yesterday, I don’t even really know what to say here. I recorded a full verbal diary of all my thoughts and emotions last night that I’ll put out on my podcast next week.”
On her November 3rd vlog post, Whitney said that she had been under strict monitoring with this latest pregnancy, “because of my history with miscarriages. I’ve had two miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy.”
At seven weeks in, doctors noticed that Whitney’s pregnancy was not progressing as it should have been. “Everything was looking good up until yesterday,” Whitney said at the time, “whatever was happening in there was not where it was supposed to be, given the week that I’m at.”
And at a medical appointment two weeks later, Whitney explained that the “doctor didn’t hear a heartbeat.” She continued, “I went today for the eight [week] and four day ultrasound, and last week the baby had doubled and he heard the heartbeat, and then this week there was no heartbeat.”

She shared that there were some indications that the pregnancy was “unhealthy.” The latest ultrasound revealed, “it looked like there was no embryo inside and the yolk sac was thin. That was maybe a sign of it not being healthy from the beginning.”
Whitney reconsidered whether she should have announced her pregnancy in the first place, given her concerns, but added that “it didn’t feel right to hold it in.” However, She and Tim “were being hopeful” that they would finally be able to give their 4-year-old son Sonny a sibling.
After two prior miscarriages, one in July 2019 and the other in January 2021, Whitney and Tim put all their expectations into this pregnancy. But at this point, doctors advised them to seek fertility treatments.
As Whitney mourns this latest loss, she reflected, “I just didn’t think that it was gonna reverse…You just don’t know what’s going to happen in the first trimester. The thought of just not having a second kid is too painful to bear.”
