Shep Rose Southern Charm

Shep Rose Says Marriage Isn’t For Him Because It’s “Permanent” And He’s “Not A Big Gambler”

Shep Rose made two shocking announcements in 2020. The first is that he wrote a book! The second is that he is in a real life committed relationship. Thank goodness we can be rid of Relationshep once and for all. And one thing that we all have in common with Shep’s new book, Taylor Ann Green? She’s just as disinterested in reading the details of Shep’s former “untamed life.”

With the coronavirus shutdowns and the heavy focus on Kathryn Dennis’ racist behavior, there wasn’t much time to dive into Shep and Taylor’s love life in the latest season of Southern CharmWith the release of his new book,  Average Expectations: Lessons in Lowering the Bar, Shep is using his press opportunities to let the people know what exactly is going on.

In an interview with Us Weekly Shep boasted about his first real girlfriend. He announced, “It couldn’t be better. We just want to have fun, and that kind of gets us in trouble because there’s probably conversations we need to have every now and then, but all we want to do is goof off and have a good time.” He added, “She’s a great partner incrime and things are really good at the moment.”

So what does that mean for Shep and Taylor’s future? In his book Shep has hinted that he thinks committed relationships are evolving and modernizing away from the institution of marriage.

He wrote,“From where I sit, I predict that in fifty years, marriage as we know it will be unrecognizable. The institution won’t go extinct, but it’ll be endangered.” He also theorized, “What will cohabitation and ‘marriage’ look like in the future? I believe it will become more of a self-defined partnership. It’ll be more pragmatic and less idealistic. Because let’s face it, it’s f—king hard to be in a relationship. Being single is easy as pie.”

Despite his views on legalizing his relationship, Shep shared in his interview that he and Taylor are on a “pretty nice trajectory” right now. With regards to ever being married he said, “There’s a finality about it that’s just, like, ah, it’s permanent. It’s like gambling on the future to the maximum, and I’m not a big gambler. … I’m really, really upfront about that.”
