Real Housewives of Orange County star Braunwyn Windham-Burke isn’t holding anything back this season. In the Season 15 premiere, Braunwyn stunned RHOC viewers by admitting that she is an alcoholic. She is now sober.
At Shannon Beador’s housewarming party, Braunwyn argued with Gina Kirschenheiter, tossed a glass in the pool, and screamed that she was sober, shocking her fellow Housewives. But Braunwyn’s emotional tears and storming off didn’t garner much sympathy from her co-stars.
Last year, Braunwyn shared that she sometimes had threesomes with her husband, Sean Burke. Braunwyn made out with RHOC co-star Tamra Judge at every opportunity. The mom of seven even let it be known that although she is attracted to her husband, she is more attracted to women. Sean and his wife even had a “love shack” where they would meet for romantic rendezvous.
Braunwyn’s decision to become sober greatly affected her marriage. That certainly makes sense. She had depended on Sean when she was drinking, but when Braunwyn became sober, she didn’t need his support as much. That shifting dynamic made Sean feel like he was drifting away from Braunwyn.

In early October, the couple were hit with split rumors after Braunwyn posted about divorce and co-parenting in a since-deleted Instagram post. It turns out that she was promoting a Zoom event about the topic.
On October 4, Braunwyn posted some steamy photos with Sean to her Instagram Story. Braunwyn captioned a photo of the duo in a pool “modern marriage.” That seemed to signal that all was well between the couple.

Recently, Braunwyn announced that Sean is no longer living with her and the kids while the couple works on their relationship. And Braunwyn also shared that she has someone “new and special” in her life. Braunwyn all but spelled out that she is dating a woman. I understand wanting to keep some part of her life private, but it is a tricky to path to walk when she is so open about everything else.
Braunwyn and Sean, who have been married for nearly 20 years, have been open about the upheaval in their family as they deal with all of these issues. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Braunwyn detailed how the couple is redefining their relationship. Braunwyn stated, “We’re finding a new normal. We’re renegotiating the terms of the contract when it comes to our marriage, for sure.”

“That being said, do we have to fall into the social norms that everyone else does? No. We’re doing it our own way,” Braunwyn explained. “Like I said, [it’s a] modern marriage.”
Braunwyn denied rumors that she and Sean are planning on splitting up. She shared that they have an open marriage (shocker!) and that they are working through their marital struggles together.

So, what is the key to making their modern marriage work? Braunwyn said it all comes down to “honesty and communication.”
“We had to have some really hard talks, don’t get me wrong,” the RHOC star admitted. “This has not been easy. We’ve definitely had hard times.”

“So for us sometimes [we] can blow everything up to patch it back together,” Braunwyn added. “We are [and] we will be married forever. We have one hundred percent faith we are going to raise our kids and grandkids together.”
