Stassi Schroeder Addresses ‘Nazi Chic’ Moment And Other Controversial Comments

It’s been three months since the Vanderpump Rules reckoning. Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Brett Caprioni, and Max Boyens were all fired after Season 8 for racist behavior.  Since then, Stassi and Kristen have mended their friendship, but are handling things a bit different.

Kristen has been more outspoken about getting fired, revealing that she tried to reach out to Faith Stowersand is donating a portion of her Cameo profits to the ACLU. While Stassi deflected by announcing that she’s pregnant. Now, for the first time Stassi has spoken about everything that has happened in an interview with Tamron Hall.

As reported by US Weekly, Stassi was interviewed by Tamron Hall on Thursday. “I needed to time to process my feelings…one of the most frustrating parts when this all went down was that people expected me to just understand everything immediately and things like that take time,” she said in regard to her silence. “I felt like it would be better for me to take the time to get a greater understanding of everything and the issues before I opened my mouth again.” Probably a good call. Stassi also shared how she found out she got fired saying, “I got a call from my producer and my lawyer that morning,” but that she does, “understand why I didn’t have a chance to explain myself, I’ve messed up a lot.”

Stassi spoke to Tamron about a lot of past behavior. For instance, on the incident with Faith – “when you’re on a show like Vanderpump Rules, your existence on that show is kind of dependent on sticking your nose in other people’s conflict or creating conflict that might be woven into a story line… this is completely my fault because I was absolutely wrong, but it wasn’t just a photo that we saw.” Okay, not the way to apologize. “There were other reasons why we had thought that. I legitimately thought we were solving crime…I was completely wrong.” No shit.

Stassi did demonstrate more understanding of her actions later on, saying, “I didn’t understand that just because something wasn’t about race for me doesn’t mean it’s not about race for the other person.” Now Stassi says she understands that she brings her “experience as a white, privileged woman,” to situations, while Faith was, “bringing her experience as a Black woman into the situation and because it’s about race for her, it is about race, and that’s something that I’ve realized.”

In regard to the 2018 “Nazi Chic” comment Stassi made in an Instagram caption, Stassi had this to say: “It was poor joke among me and my friends, and it was so wrong. I have spent my life as a privileged person and it is my fault… the issue is, I did not know better. I was so used to making jokes at other people’s expense.” I can believe that!

Tamron also asked Stassi about her complaints regarding #OscarsSoWhite. Stassi replied, “I was a Karen who basically said, ‘But what about all lives matter?’ Black people are dying, because they have been oppressed for 400 years.” Stassi stated, “All lives can’t matter until Black lives matter and that’s something that I’ve realized.”

Stassi also shared with Tamron that she has a coach she talks to and has been learning about racism from them. “I didn’t want to just talk to my friends…[we meet] on Zoom and we meet once a weekend. I have homework and we have discussions and all of that.” This was surprising, and also good to hear.
