The most recent episode of Below Deck Mediterranean has been very triggering for the viewers. Instead of having a discussion with Hannah Ferrier about her anxiety or asking if there was anything she could do to make life easier on the boat, Malia White took the sneaky approach. She arranged Hannah’s prescription medication and sent a photo to Captain Sandy Yawn.
If she actually cared about Hannah or keeping peace on the boat, she could have handled that in many different ways. Why didn’t she just have a conversation with Hannah and Sandy in person if she actually cared about Hannah’s anxiety? Oh, right. Malia actually did not care. Instead, she wanted to stir up drama and rearrange all of the cabins just so she could sleep in the same room as her boyfriend Tom Checketts. Whether she was complying with maritime law or not, Malia showed zero empathy and zero compassion for Hannah.
Third Stew Jessica More is speaking out about the use of anxiety medication following the controversial episode. Keep in mind that Jess has recently addressed her own anxiety with the fans. She is not specifically talking about Hannah here, but here sentiments certainly apply to that situation.
Jess tweeted, “Just a little message: You can STILL DO YOUR JOB SAFELY AND take your prescribed medications. It Doesn’t make you incompetent!!!!!” Thank you, Jess! Very true.

When a fan asked, “But did she tell Sandy she had them,” Jess answered, “I’m speaking for myself.”
Another viewer told Jess, “Yes! For someone who takes medication, it’s what makes them able to do their job safely! Meds don’t affect people who need them in the same way as they affect healthy people who are abusing them for a high. It’s just completely different.” In response, Jess tweeted, “EXACTLY!! I’m getting REALLY SICK of people acting like taking medication that’s needed in a small prescribed dosage makes one incompetent. No one would even know otherwise unless told when I take mine… Like taking cholesterol meds.”

A Below Deck Mediterranean fan tweeted, “Thank you for saying this. That characterization was personally hurtful and really upsetting. For people who need them, they do the opposite of incapacitation. They, in fact, make us more capable. I keep hearing it treated like recreational drug or worse yet…addiction. Jess quoted that tweet and wrote, “ya I’m starting to really lose me patience with it being spread in the light that it’s done recreationally. You said it perfectly!”
