Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance, contained “the three D’s”: disappointment, demands and delusion. I believe all three of these components are necessary for the success of this show. You can’t possibly deal with any of this crazy sh!t, if you don’t have at least two on that list. Some of these people refuse to see what is clearly right in front of their face.
Syngin Colchester considers returning to South Africa. Mursel Mistanoglu feels he may have made a mistake. Mike consults a lawyer about his options. Angela Deem rethinks having a Nigerian wedding. Jasmin & Blake‘s families finally meet. Let’s get straight into the recap!
Angela, 53 (Hazlehurst, Georgia) and Michael, 29 (Nigeria)
Michael Ilesanmi‘s brother doesn’t know the danger he is in when he suggests that Michael move on from Angela, if they can’t figure out their visa situation. Angela is livid and turns her ire on Michael and demands his full commitment, if he truly loves her. He quickly reminds her he is old enough to make his own decisions. The family reassures Angela they aren’t against the relationship, they just want them to stop wasting time.
In other words, they think she is older and nearly past child bearing years, so there is no time like the present. Angela decides to consider having her dream wedding in Nigeria. I honestly don’t know why it matters. Even if they get married in Nigeria, they can still have a ceremony in the U.S. Besides, I’m sure they can find some cake and hot dogs to make Angela feel right at home.
Robert, 41 (Winter Park, Florida) and Anny, 30 (Dominican Republic)
Robert decides to take Anny shoe shopping after allowing his brother to disrespect her the night before. He is pulling out all the stops and even gives her a heartfelt apology for the way he and his brother treated her. Anny feels like all the people in Robert’s life don’t want them to be together.
He reassures her that he doesn’t care with anyone thinks and that he loves her. Finally, Robert isn’t making excuses when he is wrong. I felt bad watching the level of disrespect Anny has had to endure since she has arrived in the States. Anny, you should have held out for the new wardrobe he promised, after the way he and his brother acted.
Robert and Anny meet Bryson’s grandparents for lunch. When Anny reveals that Bryson calls her mama, the mood completely changes. For some reason, Bryson’s grandparents think they have a say about Robert’s relationship. If they couldn’t even control their daughter, who doesn’t take care of her son, how can they control him? They even offer to write Anny a check to send her back to the Dominican Republic. WTF! Poor Anny can’t catch a break.
This is the point when I would have walked out of the restaurant and let them know we wouldn’t ever be meeting again. Who the hell do these people think they are? I don’t understand Robert. Who allows someone to disrespect them and their fiancé and just sits there. At least Anny can handle herself, she quickly set them straight.
Michael, 41 (Greenwich, Connecticut) and Juliana, 23 (Brazil)
After having an emotional breakdown Juliana manages to walk down the aisle to marry Michael. Despite not having anyone in her family in attendance, she is all smiles when she arrives at the altar. Michael’s ex-wife is standing front and center to officiate the wedding.
I had my doubts in the beginning, but I have to admit the way this family blended was quite unexpected. Maybe neither Sarah nor Juliana has any ulterior motives. I guess we will just have to wait and see if that remains true.
Tania, 29 (Colchester, Connecticut) and Syngin, 29 (South Africa)
Syngin meets with his friend, Tjaart, who also moved to the States from South Africa. He has been questioning their relationship ever since Tania Maduro revealed her first love was her soul mate. Tjaart advises him to make sure he is making them right decision because he has already sacrificed so much. Personally, I don’t think Tania is worth the drama, the shed or playing live-in handyman to his mother-in-law.
Tania takes her mother and friend’s wedding dress shopping. She wants a black, red or champagne wedding dress. She looks like the corpse bride until her friends convince her to try on a traditional white dress. Tania vents on her soul mate conversation with Syngin. Her friends are shocked that she would say something so insensitive to someone she wants to marry.
Listening to this crazy woman talk only makes me think she is actually likes antagonizing and embarrassing her fiancé on national television. I believe she is totally aware of how her actions affect the man who has given up everything for her. Run for your life, Syngin!
Blake, 29 (Los Angeles, California) and Jasmin, 27 (Finland)
You can cut the tension with a knife when Jasmin visits Blake after storming out of dinner and refusing to attend his best friend’s birthday party. Jasmin feels like he should focus more on their relationship before their upcoming wedding. Blake doesn’t like that his fiancé doesn’t put any effort into spending time with his friends. I don’t care what anyone says, Jasmin is only tolerating Blake for a visa. She doesn’t even seem to like him half the time. Of course she doesn’t want to hang out with his family or friends.
Blake and Jasmin introduce their parents for the first time. Things are extremely awkward, to say the least. Things go from bad to worse when Blake’s mother asks what Jasmin plans to do for employment after they are married. Jasmin doesn’t plan on working at all. Blake’s mother is not having it! She sternly tries to instill in both Blake and Jasmin that they need two incomes as a young couple. Blake sits there quietly as if he truly can afford to support another person. I highly doubt his record label is bringing in enough money to even support himself if he can’t even afford his own apartment.
Emily, 28 (Portland, Oregon) and Sasha, 31 (Russia)
Sasha and Emily meet her sister in Oregon at the beach before their nuptials. In a moment alone, Emily’s sister asks Sasha to promise to love and never cheat on her sister. Sasha promises as long as Emily loves him, he will do the same. Well, let’s not get too crazy, he did leave his other two wives and children. I hope for better odds for Emily’s sake, but chances are she could suffer the same fate.
It’s Sasha and Emily’s wedding day which will entail a small ceremony with family. Even Sasha and Betsy established a truce after coming to an understanding, the day before. I hope Sasha has good intentions. Emily has so much optimism in her eyes as they tie the knot.
Anna, 38 (Bellevue, Nebraska) and Mursel, 38 (Turkey)
After Mursel returns to Turkey, he calls Anna and reveals his family will allow them to get married. After contacting the Embassy his K-1 Visa is reissued for a limited amount of time. Insert eye roll emoji. This just has disaster written all over it. I hate that these two adults involving these children in their drama. Mursel’s family took pity on him, probably after hearing him sob all night. They finally gave their blessing for his marriage to Anna.
Anna takes her children to lunch to drop the bomb that she and Mursel will be getting married after all. Anna’s oldest son is not happy that Mursel will be returning to their lives. To add insult to injury, this time when he arrives they have to get married the same day. Anna is going to have to try harder to convince her oldest son, Joey to attend the wedding and to accept his soon -to -be stepfather.
Mike, 34 (Seguim, Washington) and Natalie, 35 (Ukraine)
Mike speaks with a lawyer to inquire about Natalie’s immigration approval. He also wants to the steps to cancel the visa process if he decides he no longer wants to pursue the relationship. His lawyer advises him to think very carefully on whether he truly wants to get married and be financially responsible for her. After what I saw in Ukraine, I think he should cancel the visa and the relationship immediately. Natalie seems very unstable. I can’t imagine her living on a quiet farm with Mike.
TELL US- IS ROBERT WRONG FOR PUTTING ANNY IN HOSTILE SITUATIONS AND NOT DEFENDING HER? SHOULD MICHAEL AND ANGELA GET MARRIED IN NIGERIA? SHOULD SYNGIN RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA? WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT JASMIN NOT WANTING TO WORK ONCE SHE IS MARRIED? SHOULD ANNA HAVE ALLOWED MURSEL TO RETURN?
