After eight months behind bars, Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is finally a free man and back in New Jersey with his wife Lauren Sorrentino.
Jersey Shore Family Vacation viewers watch the Sitch prepare for his prison stint and even saw the drive on the way to prison. Even though he hasn’t appeared in the most recent episodes (obviously), his wife Lauren has, and the Jersey Shore roomies have visited him and talked about how he’s been doing in jail. He has also called the cast and appeared via speakerphone in a few episodes.
According to an article from TMZ, Mike was released from a federal prison at 8:30 AM this morning. He was locked up since January for tax evasion.
After his release, Mike and Lauren shared a statement with TMZ. The Sorrentinos shared, “We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort.”

The couple also said, “We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations!” Aawww. After watching Mike and Lauren’s journey on the show, it’s so easy to root for them and their growing family. He seems like he has truly changed for the better and she seems like a precious gem.
TMZ also reported that the cast members hopped on flights last night in preparation to see Mike after his release. There’s no doubt that Mike’s reunion with his roomies will be filmed for the show. And, most likely, his actual release and some of his first moments with his wife will probably be filmed for Jersey Shore Family Vacation as well.
