Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter’s personal life has been drama-filled, and that is putting it politely. During her rookie season, Gina filed for divorce from her husband Matt Kirschenheiter in April 2018. Gina blamed the Bravo show as being a stressor in their marriage. Isn’t that common sense shocking? Matt’s crazy travel schedule basically left her alone as a single mom to their three kids. Of course, RHOC viewers never actually saw Matt on the show. If we don’t see him, does he even exist?
Gina was arrested for DUI on February 1, 2019. Gina pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and received a sentence of six months in an alcohol offender program, three years’ probation, and community service.
Then, her relationship with Matt took a frightening turn. According to legal filings obtained by The Blast, in June of 2019, Gina accused Matt of reportedly hitting her and choking her. When Gina broke free and ran to a neighbor’s house for help, Gina said that Matt allegedly “grabbed me and dragged me on the cement back into the house. He threw me back on the couch started hitting me again telling me he was going to kill me.” Sadly, Gina claimed that this incident wasn’t the first time their relationship had turned violent.
Matt was arrested, and Gina was granted a temporary restraining order against him. Gina claimed in court documents that Matt has a “drug and alcohol problem,” and she asked for an emergency hearing. The RHOC star requested that a judge order her ex to submit to random testing as part of their custody agreement. Matt is allowed supervised visitation with his kids. He also recently told Gina that he is going to enter a rehab for one month.

But Matt leveled some accusations of his own against his reality star wife. Radar Online reported that in court documents, Matt stated that he “no longer uses alcohol or marijuana, has never engaged in hard drug use, and is a ‘devoted father’ to their three young children.” Gina’s estranged husband also stated that they “used to recreationally smoke marijuana and drink” together. He also reported that Gina is “vindictive” and uses their children to get what she wants. Matt claimed that “Petitioner [Gina] has been acting erratically and in a way that I believe is unfortunately more based on a ‘storyline’ for her reality television show and not rooted in the best interest of our children.” I, for one, am stunned!
Now the couple have finalized their divorce. According to The Blast, Gina and Matt were at a court hearing on August 14. The estranged couple, who filed a judgment with the court, were told that their marriage would officially end on December 31. Gina was overcome with emotion during the proceedings and broke down in tears. She requested to keep her last name as Kirschenheiter so that she will have the same last name as their kids.

The restraining order against Matt will remain in effect until January 15, 2020. Matt also filed documents to keep his children from appearing on RHOC. Does that sounds familiar, Tamra Judge? Matt is also less than thrilled that all this marital drama is set to play out on the show. We will have to see what other details Gina spills about her toxic marriage as the season progresses. I am hopeful that Gina and Matt can work things out so that they can civilly co-parent their children.
TELL US- DO YOU THINK THAT GINA AND MATT CAN EVENTUALLY PEACEFULLY CO-PARENT? DO YOU BELIEVE MATT’S ACCUSATIONS ABOUT GINA WANTING THIS AS A RHOC STORY LINE?
