Ashley Jacobs crying

Ashley Jacobs Discusses Southern Charm Regrets & The “Villain” Label

Ashley Jacobs might be nuttier than a squirrel’s nest, but we need her. Southern Charm was in danger of getting stale. There’s only so many times Shep Rose can be drunk. Who wants to watch Craig Conover not sew his pillows? Or listen to Austen Kroll pontificate about beer and his lack of personality employment. While an ensemble cast is great, occasionally someone needs to come in and ruffle some feathers.

Heeere’s Ashley! She used to date Thomas Ravenel and she’s still stirring things up. While Thomas gaslit his new victim love and manipulated encounters with Kathryn Dennis, Ashley eventually turned down a dark road. She hurled disparaging remarks at Kathryn in a liberal fashion. But should Kathryn thank Ashley? She managed to turn one of reality television’s most hated, into Mother of the Freaking Year. Ashley had a role and she committed to it full throttle. Now she’s dealing with the aftermath of her actions, and what it means to be a villain.

Ashley is back and ready to talk. She recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about being labeled, “For me to be dubbed the villain, it hurt. I started to think, you know, where did I go wrong, and what could I have done differently? I can certainly be blunt, and I can certainly… I have a sharp tongue, and I know how that can be misconstrued.”

The first place Ashley went wrong was hooking up with T-Rav. Then hooking up with tequila. After going in on Kathryn during a cast trip, she said, “I did say some hurtful things,” she admits. “My No. 1 regret is saying those things to Kathryn. My regret is not keeping my mouth shut. My regret is letting my feelings get the best of me, and reacting without thinking. Sitting on those feelings. My regret is saying those things in front of a large group, not pulling her aside and talking to her, and explaining my feelings.” Her regret should be too much drunky.

By the Season 5 reunion, relationship stress and subsequent media attention had taken a toll. Ashley’s appearance went from, “she’s cute” to “does she have a pulse?” She said, “It was dark, and it was really lonely. I lost a lot of weight. I wasn’t taking care of myself mentally, and I felt that I had so much more that I wanted to say and to do.”

After Ashley’s mistake boyfriend was arrested on sexual assault allegations, the couple broke up. Before returning to California, she showed up at Eliza Limehouse’s party. “I was gonna start the process of asking for people’s forgiveness,” she says. “I wanted them to see that I was trying, and that I was trying to be a better person, and that I had worked on myself.” Sure, Jan. And I’m the new White House press secretary.

But Ashley had recently called Naomie Olindo a “bitch” in the middle of a restaurant. She confessed, “That would be my luck that, you know, just a few weeks after me making that comment, that I go to the party,” she says. “I wish one of them had said, what led you to feel that way? So they could better understand. I’m not saying that I’m right, I’m just saying that I have feelings, too, and I reacted,” Ashley shared. They are not trained psychologists, dear. Is the cast qualified to delve into Ashley’s psyche to find out what makes her tick?

Ash wishes she had reached out individually to cast members. She admits often living in a “fantasy land” (duh). “The biggest (misconception about me is) that I’m evil, that I’m psychotic.” I’M SHOCKED! She continued, “That I, you know, need mental help. I mean I did, I got some help for the situational depression.”

Ashley has a story, but is limited on what she can say legally. “The truth always rises to the top,” she adds. “It could take a few months, it could take a year, it could take two years, but it will come out. And I’m gonna be able to tell people, ‘I told you so!’ Yes, I’m gonna be able to say ‘I told you so.'” I’ll wait. I kind of love her crazy.

We haven’t seen the last of Ashley losing her marbles on Southern Charm. She’ll be back to cause a scene at one of Patricia Altschul’s soirées. It will probably be the most interesting show of the season. Hate Ashley all you want, but it’s totally planned working in her favor.
