Whitney Port has spent enough time on reality TV to be wary of it. It can bring out the worst in people and blur lines between reality and reality TV. And now that she has decided to return to the medium, Whitney is sharing her thoughts on coming back to it all and how she has meshed with her former costars.
Whitney was Lauren Conrad’s coworker on The Hills. She handled herself with grace and stayed above the fray for the most part. Whitney basically sat in a closet with Lauren for two years and functioned as a soundboard to everyone else’s drama. Then she landed her own show, The City, for two seasons.
Whitney spoke to E! News in Mondrian LA, at the Skybar about her hesitations, “it was a really tough decision for me to make to go back to The Hills. Honestly, I was scared. I’m 34 years old now, I have a child, I have my husband, relationships that are meaningful to me and I didn’t really want them exploited or messed with.”
So when Whitney did decide to return to reality TV, it was after a process of careful deliberation. She and husband, Tim Rosenman, made a list of pros and cons. “In the end I decided that it would just be something fun and new to bring to my life,” she said.
“And I was excited to connect with everybody, see what everybody was up to, give them the benefit of the doubt that they’ve all matured and hopefully that we can make this a fun experience. I can’t necessarily say that that has happened, but it’s definitely been interesting.”

Well, age doesn’t always equate maturity. After all, most of Whitney former costars are in the same place in their lives. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are also 30 somethings with a young son, Gunner. Audrina Patridge’s two-year-old daughter Kirra will appear on the show. So who is Whitney referring to?
My money is on Spencer and his ongoing feud with sister Stephanie Pratt. Stephanie has recently gone public in a war of words against her brother and sister in law.
And what of Whitney’s new castmates? She has good things to say about Mischa Barton. “She was also really well-known at the time when The Hills and The City were in their prime. I think she really wants to show people what she’s all about and she’s not just a headline like she once was.”
