Before the last Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episode even aired, fans were using the hashtag #GoodbyeKyle with countless insults aimed at Kyle Richards. Of course, fans devised that hashtag based on Ken Todd’s parting words when he and Lisa Vanderpump kicked Kyle out of Villa Rosa.
Then, Kyle decided to use the hashtag in her own Instagram Stories. Some people thought this was disrespectful to Ken and Lisa. Others thought it was hilarious and applauded Kyle for turning a negative into a positive. There are very few people in between those two extremes. Now, Kyle is speaking out about the #GoodbyeKyle response.
The Instagram account iRealHousewives captured the screenshots from Kyle’s Stories. Kyle started, “As most of you know, last week’s episode of RHOBH was a difficult one. When I went to Lisa’s home to talk to her, I knew it would not be easy but I felt I had to be honest after the conversation that had taken place between the other women and me earlier. I didn’t expect to be having a conversation both Lisa and Ken.”
Then she got into that infamous hashtag. Kyle wrote, “After Ken screamed at me and told me to get out of his house, he yelled ‘goodbye Kyle’ in a very aggressive tone. After that, LVP supporters were tweeting me rude comments with the hashtag #GoodbyeKyle and posting memes with ‘Goodbye Kyle’ as the theme.” This scene was teased during the first episode of the season. The build-up to last week’s episode was a long time coming.
After, Kyle explained why she started using the hashtag herself. She recalled, “When I walked past Sur with friends on the way to The Abbey, I made a joke about the now infamous ‘Goodbye Kyle’ it was my way of being in on the joke instead of taking it laying down. Besides, I find laughter to be the best medicine.”

And, of course, Kyle addressed the backlash. She shared, “I have read comments saying I was doing that to be mean because I want Lisa off the show. That is not true at all. Lisa and I have had arguments in the past and never at any point did I want to do the show without Lisa. This argument took place 7 months ago. Personally, I would think they would prefer me making a joke about it rather than making a big deal about a man getting up in my face.” Shade thrown with that last part?
Ultimately, Kyle concluded, “I have not taken that route intentionally as regardless of what happened between Lisa, Ken, and me, I do care about them.” But will they ever be friends again? Will they even be costars again? There’s just so much up in the air right now.
