Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel is still struggling with health issues from an almost fatal allergic reaction to fish. During that terrifying incident in December, the reality star ate some soup and felt her throat get itchy.
Then, she became unconscious. Now, she credits her boyfriend, Paul Bernon, with saving her life. It sounds like he is a good man to have around in a crisis!
According to People, Bethenny spent two days in the ICU at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in the Boston area. There, she recovered from an anaphylactic shock. “I couldn’t talk, see. I [thought] I had a stroke & dying & told if 5 mins later I’d be dead. 911 & EPI saved me. I’ll never not carry an #epipen,” Bethenny later tweeted.
Bethenny discussed her fish allergy. during the disastrous, gross (and explosive diarrhea-inducing) RHONY trip to Colombia. Then, she joked with her co-stars about “wanting to poison her.” Instead, Bethenny should have been on the lookout for more toxic and uncomfortable exchanges with Carole Radziwell.

Bethenny is still, unfortunately, dealing with some side effects since her frightening experience. According to Page Six, Bethenny asked the Twitterverse (because who else has the answers) for advice about some concerning medical symptoms. “Well tweeps, you’re usually smarter than anyone & I keep researching & cannot find out. Can anaphylactic shock affect memory or vision afterwards?” Bethenny posted. “I had 20 20 & it does not appear to be the case now.” Thankfully, Bethenny is going to the doctor to get some answers.
Sadly, Bethenny’s experienced other fish-related close calls. Another article from Page Six stated that Bethenny boarded a flight on January 3, only to discover that they were serving bass. Bethenny called the airline several times and asked about the menu. After requesting that they not serve the fish, the pilot instead made an announcement and turned the flight around. Awkward!

Bethenny was embarrassed and upset because this would delay all the other passengers. “Being trapped in a cabin w no windows w cooking fish is a death trap,” she said in a tweet. “To clarify: some allergens are transmitted by touch & air. Fish is one & is fatal,” she explained in another tweet.
That is so scary! I hope that Bethenny has a speedy recovery, and maybe sticks to taking private planes.
