Kenya Moore Thought She Died During Delivery Complications; Wants Second Child

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kenya Moore opened up about her complicated birth experience. Her high-risk pregnancy ultimately resulted in an emergency surgery before she could meet daughter Brooklyn Doris Daly.

Kenya experienced so much pain and bleeding that she actually thought she died mid-birth. Even so, she still wants to give her daughter a sibling.

In an interview with People, Kenya revealed that doctors cut her horizontally and vertically to avoid fibroids, which could have caused her to bleed out.

Normally, the operation takes a half hour, but it took the doctors over three hours during Kenya’s delivery. Not only that, but the epidural wore off. Doctors gave Kenya anesthesia for the pain. Thanks to the anesthesia, Kenya fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the procedure, thinking she was dead.

Kenya explained, “I couldn’t see but I could hear everything. And I was trying to talk, but I couldn’t get the words out. Nobody could hear me.” She recalled, “I thought, ‘I didn’t make it. I lost too much blood.’ I literally thought I was dead and had passed away. Because my thoughts were there, I was present. But no one could see that I was struggling, trying to wake up. It was crazy.” That sounds so traumatic. Thankfully Kenya and Brooklyn are both OK!

Kenya only gave birth a month ago, but she’s already open to expanding her family with Marc Daly. She admitted, “I don’t know if my body can do it, but we would love to have one more.” Kenya also said that she was open to other possibilities, including adoption. She shared, “I want a little boy!”
