Not all seasons of Below Deck are created equal. Just ask the star of the show, the one and only Captain Lee Rosbach. Even he has to admit that there really was a “worst season” during his time on Below Deck.
Of course, his perspective is coming from his role as a captain, not as viewer, but it is still interesting to see which season stands out to him as the “worst” one of them all. This is especially true since an incompetent employee often makes for some entertaining storylines.
In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Captain Lee cited Season 5 as the worst one. He explained, “Last season was one of the worst seasons that I’ve experienced just because we had a bunch of rookies onboard, total lack of experience. Life on board is difficult enough to begin with. It’s made even more difficult and compounded by inexperienced crew.”
He continued, “And then when you get inexperienced crew that think they know everything anyhow, then it really gets to be fun.” Clearly it wasn’t that “fun” for the captain, but it did make for some interesting plot lines last season.
Surprisingly enough, Captain Lee admitted, “Yeah, maybe looking back on last season, I should have fired all of them right from jump street and started over.” He theorized, “Then it might’ve been better.”
