By now everyone is well-aware that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had their third child Chicago West via surrogate. Nevertheless, the decision making and the pregnancy itself were kept private for a good while.
It was not nearly as private as Kim’s sister Kylie Jenner‘s pregnancy, but by Kardashian/Jenner standards, it was definitely a low key pregnancy and delivery. Now Kim is opening up about the decision to use a gestational carrier and the possibility of adding more kids to the West family.
In a recent interview with Elle, Kim described the difficult pregnancies and births of her first two children North West and Saint West. She explained, “After giving birth, your placenta is supposed to come out, but mine was stuck.”
“That’s what women usually die from in childbirth—you hemorrhage and bleed to death and they can’t stop it. To get it out—it’s so disgusting—the doctor had to stick his whole arm in me and scrape it off. It was the most painful. To this day, if you mention it to [Kris Jenner], she’ll cry. It was traumatic.”
After two difficult pregnancies herself and one via surrogate, Kim just said, “I dunno” when she was asked about the possibility of a fourth child. She eventually elaborated, saying, “My home and my heart feel really full right now, in the best way.” That makes sense since Chicago was just born in January and the family is probably still adjusting to life with the new addition.
There is some hope that Kim and Kanye will have a fourth child, but that four is her limit. Kim admitted, “I don’t think I could handle more than that. My time is spread really thin. And I think it’s important that in all couples, the mom gives the husband as much attention as the kids.”
