I couldn’t believe what I was watching when Peggy Sulahian pinched Meghan Edmonds’s lips shut during the last Real Housewives of Orange County episode. First off, who does that? Second, Peggy had no idea what she was even reacting to since she just met Meghan that night and she has zero relationships with anyone in the cast.
It was even weirder because Vicki Gunvalson didn’t even seem to be that offended by Meghan’s words. Sure, she was kind of wound up, but Vicki is always wound up. Surprisingly enough, it seemed like they were just having a (relatively) mature discussion with a difference of opinion and they were both handling it pretty well… then Peggy stepped in and grabbed Meghan’s mouth.
Meghan shard her thoughts on Peggy’s lip grab in a Bravo blog post.
She admitted, “I’m so glad that everyone was equally as shocked as I was when Peggy grabbed my lips. I honestly thought that she was asking me to put my lips together so she could fix my lipstick or something. Never would I have imagined she’d pinch them!”
What was Peggy thinking? Oh yeah, she wanted some screen time, something to fight about at the reunion, and a shot at securing a second season on the show.
Meghan wondered, “Who grabs someone’s lips to make them stop talking?!” Peggy. That’s who.
The other weird part of that incident is that Meghan had no visible reaction to the pinch, but she explained, “I was so confused, and obviously didn’t know how to react at first because I was so thrown off by it.”
Meghan pointed out the obvious: “Peggy didn’t even know what we were talking about or referring to! Not to mention, we had just met THAT NIGHT. What ever happened to just ignoring it or walking away when you don’t like something?”
Seriously though – who does Peggy think she is? She barely knows anyone on this show and had no reason to react the way that she did.
Meghan continued, “I find it extremely weird because I didn’t even say anything mean to Vicki Gunvalson and I wasn’t trying to start anything – I was simply saying I feel like an apology is about releasing your own angst and admitting wrong, so it’s okay to not receive anything in return.”
Obviously Vicki didn’t agree with Meghan, but she really didn’t seem too put off by the difference of opinion. Peggy was way out of line and totally off base with the pinching.
