Jason Hoppy Charged

Jason Hoppy Refuses Plea Deal For Harassing Bethenny Frankel; Heading To Court In April

If we thought that Bethenny Frankel’s long awaited divorce settlement would be the last we’d ever hear of Jason Hoppy, we were sadly mistaken. The saga continues for The Real Housewives Of New York star and her ex-husband. Both will be headed to court in April over allegations that Jason was harassing and stalking Bethenny – charges that he was arrested for in January.

After allegedly threatening Bethenny (who was with her boyfriend Dennis Shields) at their daughter, Bryn’s, school in January, Jason was charged with aggravated harassment in the first degree, harassment in the second degree and stalking in the fourth degree. This incident came after Bethenny accused Jason of sending her approximately 160 threatening emails. Now, Jason is refusing a plea deal to settle these charges. He was offered this deal in exchange for taking anger management classes, which he has refused.

Page Six reports that “Judge Abena Darkeh adjourned the case to April 26 and ordered Hoppy to refrain from any contact with Frankel unless a family court judge rules otherwise.”

According to an NYPD spokesperson, Jason threatened Bethenny at Bryn’s school after sending her harassing messages “numbering in the hundreds after a cease and desist letter was sent on November 22, 2016. On Friday, January 27, the suspect approached her and a friend at her child’s school at around 8:15 a.m. and tried to provoke a fight. He said, ‘I will destroy you, you can get all the lawyers you want, you’ve been warned.”

In November, Dennis Shields threatened to sue Jason over the barrage of nasty emails he was sending Bethenny almost daily – emails that Jason also cc’d Dennis on.

Despite this threat of legal action, Jason told Dennis at the school incident that Bethenny was “pure evil” and that he’d “been warned.”

Recently, People alleged that Bethenny and Dennis‘ relationship had cooled a bit, stating that the couple were “taking a break from their romance — but she’s not calling it a breakup.”

Regardless, Jason and Bethenny, who share joint custody of their daughter, will have to continue co-parenting throughout this newest contentious ordeal – an ordeal which, no matter what one thinks of Bethenny, seems to stem from a deep anger and resentment that Jason Hoppy can’t quite shake.
