Kris Jenner Fights Back Against ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood’ App Lawsuit!

In November app development company Kung Fu Factory filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit in federal court against Kris Jenner alleging that she stole their idea for Kim Kardashian‘s uber-money generating app. The pimpmoager is fighting back, insisting there’s proof the ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood‘ game was an idea all their own.

Some background: According to Kung Fu Factory’s suit Kris contacted them way back in 2011 about potentially developing a video game surrounding the Keeping Up With The Kardashians family.  The company developed “very specific” mock-ups in their proposal, including the characters’ appearances, and after pitching it to Kris, were told she wasn’t interested. Fast-forward to 2014, Kim Kardashian Hollywood was released, developed by a company called Glu Mobile Inc., but it looked suspiciously similar to the ideas presented by Kung Fu Factory!

Kung Fu Factory sued Kris and Glu Mobile Inc. in federal court citing copyright violation and demanding a cut of the profits from the game, which netted revenues up to $200 million dollars in 2015! The success of Kim’s original app encouraged a slew of Kardashian apps, one for each member of the family, with Kylie Jenner‘s being the most lucrative

Kris‘ defense counters that in 2011 Glu Mobile Inc. developed Kim’s celebrity-studded app based around their own pre-existing original content, including their game, Stardom: Hollywood, which is purportedly identical in “themes, storylines, writing, and dialogue” to Kim Kardashian: Hollywood

Court documents from Kris‘ legal team are available at The Daily Mail. They allege Kung Fu Factory’s accusations are unsupported and want the lawsuit thrown out!

Among the documents submitted by Kris‘ team are Glu Mobile Inc.’s original proposal which includes 16 PowerPoint slides, “three of them contained no expressive content supporting any similarities between the two games.”

Kris apparently believes Kung Fu Factory has sour grapes over losing the bid on the project and filed the bogus suit.

A court date has been set for February 29th. Leap Day!
