Remember that time Brooks Ayers really had cancer and wanted to prove it so badly that he falsified doctor’s reports? While he’s no longer filling the love tank of OG Vicki Gunvalson, Brooks certainly created a great story line for the viewers of Real Housewives of Orange County. Not only is faking cancer the most deplorable tall tale one could create, but why would someone do it while being filmed for a popular reality series? Of course, I am not saying Brooks lied about having cancer, but that’s mainly because, you know…legal stuff.
While all of Vicki’s co-stars doubt Brooks account of his health thanks to a lot of discrepancies, his random treatments (or lack thereof), that damn psychic, and just a basic distrust of Brooks in general, it’s only been recently that Vicki has distanced herself from the man who has been consistently wrecking her reputation. Now, her family wants Brooks punished for also defaming the reputable medical provider who he touted as the producer of his fake reports.

Seeing as it’s against the law to forge medical documents in California, those closest to Vicki hope that City of Hope cancer center brings charges against Brooks for falsifying reports he claimed he received from the facility. According to state law, “any person who alters or modifies the medical record of any person, with fraudulent intent, or who, with fraudulent intent, creates any false medical record, is guilty of a misdemeanor.” The maximum punishment for the offense is a year in county jail.
According to what a source close to Vicki told Radar Online, “Vicki’s family wants the City of Hope to have Brooks prosecuted.”
The insider continues, “What he did was horrible and Vicki would absolutely cooperate with law enforcement,” adding, “Cops and the district attorney’s office would have a very clear path to conviction. Brooks is shown on camera with the faked documents, and later admitted he forged them.”
Brooks refused to weigh in when asked for comment on the story (as did City of Hope). However, when he was exposed for forging his medical records, Brooks told E! News, “Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki’s knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest.”
I’m not going to lie…I know confidently where I stand on the is-he-or-isn’t-he stance when it comes down to whether Brooks is lying about his diagnosis. While I still won’t go on record with my opinion, loyal readers know I’ve lost very close family members and friends to this horrible disease and could never stomach the idea of someone pretending to suffer for air time, so I’ll bet you can guess where my cookie crumbles!
