Y’all know I love my trashy, hair-pulling, scotch swilling, spandex wearing, bartender STD spreading, limo riding, funeral home owning, Hermes wearing, polygamous, tax evading reality stars as much as the next person (okay, more…much more), but it’s not my favorite reality genre. Weird, right? Sometimes, I don’t want drama. I want food porn, and if it happens to come with a side of Curtis Stone, so be it.
Top Chef is my all time favorite Bravo creation. Give me Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, an insane Quick Fire, and throw in Hugh Acheson’s eyebrows every now and again, and I am one happy gal. Even with twelve seasons under its belt, the franchise always manages to delight with colorful characters and creative challenges that leave me wishing I could prepare uni and sweetbreads as part of my daily diet.

Thankfully, the series is such a success for the network that I can’t foresee it going anywhere any time soon. Bravo just released a casting call for season thirteen contestants. What kind of culinary hopefuls is the network hoping to find?
The statement reads, “Top Chef is seeking chefs who have the recipe for success at casting calls for season 13! Bravo’s Emmy and James Beard Award-winning series Top Chef will return for a thirteenth season in Fall 2015. Driven by strong ratings for season twelve, the network announced open casting calls in cities across the country for chefs interested in competing in the high-stakes culinary competition series starting on February 3.”
Producers will be scouring Nashville, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago looking for the next household name. I am a tad bummed not to see Charleston on the list, and not because I’d want to stalk out the casting calls (I mean, I so would), but because this place is quite the foodie destination, from five star dining to hole in the wall houses that serve the world’s best fried chicken and homemade macaroni and cheese.
As for this season, the second part of the three episode finale airs on February 4th at 9 PM. The last three chefs standing are in Mexico and are tasked with creating two chocolate dishes–one sweet, one savory–for the Quick Fire. Richard Blais (LOVE!) returns as one of the guest judges for the six course meal elimination round. My mouth is already watering!
