It's funny how one franchise can appeal to you so much more than another. I definitely prefer Love & Hip Hop Atlanta to its original counterpart (who doesn't?), and there are Housewives series I watch far more religiously than others. Oddly enough, I can't figure out which Basketball Wives franchise I prefer…is that saying something?
I do know that I enjoy Draya Michele's antics on BBWLA, and with her kooky cast mates, she usually comes off as the most stable. She certainly has a past, but I'd like to think she's grown up and learned from her mistakes. Who knows though? After all, she is starring in a drama-fueled, anger laden reality show…so the joke could be on me!

In a recent interview with Vibe Vixen, Draya opens up about what's going on in her life. She dishes about her fashion lines (do they just give those things away, and if so, where can I get mine?) and her new, happy love life. She is also quick to shield her son from the spotlight. Check out an excerpt below!
On how being a part of Basketball Wives L.A. has changed her life: "You go from being a regular small town girl to this person that everyone recognizes in a big city. I’m in LA and everyone recognizes me so it’s a really big difference, it’s kind of cool."
On her current relationship with model Brooke Bailey: "There is no relationship between Brooke and I and on Season 3 you won’t see Brooke at all.
What we'll see in the new season: "Well you’re going to see me of course and just a more in-depth side of my life. You’ll see my family more; you’ll see bits and pieces of my love life, a more intimate side of my life. It’s not so much what I’m doing for my jobs, or money, it’s just more personal so you’ll see that. And you’ll definitely see a lot of new things with everyone; whole new people, people you’ve never seen before."
Draya dishes on how she met Orlando Scandrick: "We actually met through a mutual friend and we’ve been dating for about five months now, but we just decided to make it public."
On the status of her happiness: "Things are going great, I can’t complain, I’m probably the happiest I’ve ever been in my life."
On her motivation for "Your Fine Ass Girls" clothing line: "Well I started by saying “wit’ yo fine ass” it was something that I just said all the time. I wanted to make things that people were able to get that was a part of Draya but I didn’t want it to be like merchandise, I didn’t want to put a slogan on a shirt so then I just came up with Fine Ass Girls and was like “well why not do that?” and even people that don’t know me can wear it just because it has a great name, it’s catchy. I just wanted to start something that could be for everyone."
What’s a vixen to Draya? "I think of vixen as something sexy. I think that “X” in there just makes it like a sexy woman. Vixen itself is just a sexy word so I think it’s just any woman that’s sexy and doing whatever her talent is and succeeding at it."
On the inspiration for the second collection of Mint Swim, "I definitely took a lot more time creating this line and I wanted them to be really sexy. I wanted to keep them all in the same color scheme and not do anything too wild so I kept it basic white, basic black, and then there’s a little bit of tan. And there’s a bit of red and orange in there, I just wanted to keep it nice and clean and chic."
On what she'd like people to know about her, "I just want people to know that Instagram is just a small fraction of my life. It’s pictures that I select to go up there and you know there are some things in my life that I like to keep private. There are people that inquire so much about my family and as a mother that is a very scary thing so I have to protect my family and keep them a little out of the limelight just because they’re so in demand. When people say “well where’s your son? Where’s your son? Where’s son?” it has the opposite effect on me, instead of making me actually want to post my son, it puts a slight fear in me like why are you guys so obsessed with my son? That would scare any parent for strangers to be so concerned for their child. I just need people to know that I keep it private."
I'm not going to lie, Draya had me at "whole new people" when speaking of the upcoming season. VH1 needs to learn how to clean house when it comes to these shows!
