Y'all know I adore the Robertson family, so I am filling up on A&E reruns like Uncle Si fills up on his daily two gallons of sweet tea. In just three seasons, Duck Dynasty has become the number one nonfiction cable series, and the boys are on track to sell more than 750,000 duck calls this year…which is quite the jump from the 60,000 sold in 2011.
Willie, Jase, Si, and brother Phil recently shared the secrets to their success, how they remain grounded, and what's behind their scripted shenanigans…all while cracking jokes of their own. I so love this fam!

Speaking to Parade, Willie reveals that, as CEO of the family business Duck Commander, he thought doing a reality show would be great for business. However, he was, at first, a tad worried about the title. He tells the site, “I thought, ‘That sounds like a Chinese food place!’”
Si, with his crazy one-liners and 'Nam stories, is often on the receiving end of marriage proposals from adoring fans (cough, cough Soncie!), but alas, he's been happily married to wife Christine for forty years. When asked why she never appears on the show, Si quips, “She’s got better sense than the rest of us."
Of the often corny but always hilarious scripted scenarios featured on each episode, Jase explains that they are often concocted by the show's producers. He says, “They come up with ideas, but I get to be myself in those ideas,” adding that he won't do scenes that make him uncomfortable.
WANT TO CRUISE WITH THE ROBERTSON FAMILY?
Jase continues, “One day when we were gonna play golf, a wardrobe person brought me a pair of knickers. I guess they thought that would be funny. But I don’t wear knickers. They said, ‘A&E wants you to.’ I was like, ‘I don’t care!’”
Willie believes that doing the show has brought the Robertson family even closer, sharing, “It’s probably the opposite of most reality shows. And nobody gets a big head because we’re doing it all together.”
Discussing the show's insane success, Jase is baffled the many fans who flock to the warehouse featured on the show. He states, “I told Missy, my wife, the only person I’d stand in line for is God Almighty: ‘You made the universe? All right, I’ll get in line!’”
And speaking of Missy, she has an opinion on the men's trademark beards, admitting, “Jase is so handsome, I’d like to actually be able to see his face.”
Sadly, when questioned about how much longer Phil will remain on the show, the patriarch shares, “Not long. But I think it’ll go on without me.” NOOOOO! I'm just not going to think about that right now. In the meantime, come on August 14th!
