Oh Laura Govan, please try to do everything you can to stay slightly relevant in light of the rumored cancelation of Basketball Wives: LA. The former reality star is posing for a photo shoot where she sets a wedding dress on fire in a symbolic protest regarding society's views on single women being less important than married women. Ohhhh, deep!
Of course, Laura is engaged to NBA player Gilbert Arenas who is the father of her four children, so she's kind of straddling the fence between single and married while trying to raise awareness about how flammable satin is women's roles.

According to Dr. Jays Live, Laura is sparking some controversy (sorry for the pun) with a new pictorial for Black Men's Magazine. So, this is what classifies as "controversy" these days? Good to know.
Laura shares, “I just don’t like the way the public perceives women who aren’t married vs. the way they perceive women that are. People place so much value on having a great wedding instead of having a great relationship; that’s why you see people get married and divorced so quickly. I’ve been with the same man for 12 years, we have four children and we’re happy. Focus on that.”
The reality star claims that igniting the dress also represents a new start for her own life. Laura explains, “For me burning the dress in the photo was my way of re-introducing myself; for many people my name is synonymous with Basketball Wives and although that’s part of me, it doesn’t define me. I just felt like, ‘Let’s start fresh. Hi. My name is Laura Govan, ignore the BS you think you may know and get to know the real me.’” Yeah, so there's that.
Perhaps Laura should get her own Dr. Drew-esque spin-off where she spews relationship wisdom to other basketball wives? I'd watch! Not.
