There’s room for one more on next season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. With Sheree Whitfield bidding adieu to the show that made her “who gon’ check me, Boo” famous, who will step in to fill her over-spending Louboutins? Some cast members are hoping the newest lady who lashes out lunches will be the feisty, label lovin’ Marlo Hampton who got her fair share of air time this season.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cynthia Bailey shares, “I think Marlo is definitely very entertaining for the show.” Entertaining…a menace to society…same difference, right?
“I like shooting with her just in terms of Marlo as a cast mate,” Cynthia elaborates. “Whenever she’s in the equation, things always take a different turn than what they thought it was going to be. So, Marlo would be really, really great to throw into the mix and see what’s going to happen. Things usually are always a little different when she is around. I can honestly say that South Africa would not have been the same if Marlo Hampton had not come on that trip.” I’d say that is a fair assertion on ol’ Cindy’s part. The South African trip probably would have highlighted more of South Africa and less of Marlo and Sheree’s screaming fits had Marlo not been in attendance.

It does beg the question, given NeNe Leakes’ new-found friendship with Marlo, as to why Cynthia would be advocating for Marlo to have a more permanent spot in the franchise. Cynthia is quick to shoot down any rumors implying that she is jealous of the pair, stating, “I am so absolutely fine with NeNe and Marlo’s relationship. I think it’s great. Marlo and I are two different people. My relationship with NeNe is very different from hers. They do their thing; Nene and I do our thing. NeNe and I both have different friends.” Duh! Lest we forget that NeNe and Cynthia share something that none of the other women do–a friendship contract. That’s a binding document, y’all!
“I’m fine with NeNe being friends with anyone. The friend contract never said you couldn’t have other friends,” Cynthia teases.
As for Sheree’s departure? Cynthia keeps things short and sweet, saying, “As a cast mate, I wish her well. We were never really friends, but I wish her well in her new endeavors.” Aww, isn’t that sweet?
And speaking of Sheree’s exit stage left, Usmagazine.com reports on NeNe relaying that news to Andy Cohen that she is to thank for originally getting Sheree cast on the series. She supposedly talked up both Sheree and then-friend Kim Zolciak to producers. NeNe reveals, “Everybody interviewed, but it goes beyond that. Sheree interviewed, however they thought she was a tad bit boring, and I went to bat for her.”
Sheree, however, touts herself as the buzz generator during the initial season, countering, “In the first season, I’m the one who got it jumped off.” What does that even mean?
NeNe stands by her statement, telling Sheree, “I went to bat for you. You don’t have to believe it. You had a little help [with your audition].”
Regardless, the ladies will no longer have to share the RHOA small screen. Citing her cast mates’ bad behavior, Sheree is leaving the Bravo hit. She states, “The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness.”
It is, what it is, and in the end, Sheree gets the boot…or walks away gracefully on her own accord. It just depends on whether you believe Sheree or the rest of the world.
