Kate Gosselin Reveals She Is “Freaking Out” And “Scared” Since Show Cancellation

Two weeks after TLC cancelled her reality show Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin is finally admitting what has been widely reported, which is that she is indeed petrified about her future and being able to take care of her family.

Despite having a nursing degree, the mother of eight graces the latest cover of PEOPLE magazine with the heading “Will Her Kids Be Ok?” Under that heading is a quote from Kate saying she is “really scared” about her future. Poor Kate, the horror of having to get a real J.O.B. to care for her kids!

In the interview with the mag, Kate reveals she wasn’t “ready” when TLC pulled the plug on her show. She also reveals she cries in bed when no one’s looking. Yes she went there.

“When [Collin] learned of the show’s cancellation he said ‘I feel like crying but I can’t,’” Kate says. “I said, ‘Because you don’t want anyone to see your tears?’ and he said yes. So I said ‘Cry when you’re in bed and nobody’s looking. That’s what I do.”

Kate goes on to admit the transition from a reality TV mom to a regular mom, you know, like other millions of mothers out there, isn’t going to be an easy one.

“I’m freaking out. Big time,” she tells PEOPLE, adding that her plus 8 “weren’t ready,” to leave the show, which has been airing since 2005. She continues, “Nobody was. I’ve never quit a job in my life without having something else lined up. I don’t know what’s next.”

But fret not as Kate, 36, vows to work hard in other to maintain the lifestyle she’s provided for her kids. “I told them I will work my fingers to the bone to make sure that they can stay here and go to their school,” she says. “There are no guarantees in life for anyone, but they know that I’m giving it my best shot.”

“I don’t want to take anything away that [the kids] have been given,” Kate says. “[I’ve saved] for a little while. People think we made gazillions of dollars, and we didn’t. After the show was canceled, I said, ‘I’ll go back to my old nursing job.’ If nothing comes up, I’ll do it. But the scary reality is, 12-hour nursing shifts every day wouldn’t let me continue to provide well for me eight kids.”

It was reported days ago that Kate, who tweeted a petition to save her TLC show to her fans, has been offered a temporary co-hosting job at CBS’ talk show The Talk.

The Kate Plus 8 finale episode will air Sept. 12 on TLC.
