Kate Gosselin made the press rounds on Monday to promote the latest season of her TLC show Kate Plus 8.
She appeared on the Today Show yesterday morning during which she discussed her kids, ex-husband Jon Gosselin and dating.
According to Kate, her plus 8 still love having the cameras around to capture their every move. “It is a very positive fixture still in our lives,” she said of the cameras. “It’s normal. It’s exciting. They still cheer when the crew comes in the door. I would not say that if it were not true. We just filmed this past weekend for an upcoming episode and they said that was one of their best weekends ever.”
As for her two kids Collin and Alexis, who got expelled from school last year, or pulled out according to Kate’s version, she says they are now doing better with home school. “They are actually starting to integrate back (into school). There were actual medical issues that we dealt with … they are doing wonderfully at home and they are reading at the top level,” said Kate to host Matt Lauer.
When it comes to her ex-husband Jon, Kate attempted to take the high road stating she would like Jon to spend more time with their kids. “I wish (Jon) would see them more to be honest and so do they.” Kate then added, “I’m doing what I can to reach out and communicate. What I receive back is not in my control. I’m doing the best that I can to involve him in our family.”
The HollywoodLife blog however reports that Kate isn’t being honest and actually makes it difficult for Jon to spend more time with the kids. Sources close to Jon tell the site Kate won’t allow Jon to spend more time with the kids such as the New Year’s trip to Australia which actually took place during Jon’s custodial time with the kids, or the recent weekend trip she took to NYC without the kids, leaving them with the babysitters without telling Jon who would have loved to have them for that weekend.
As for dating, Kate admits it’s tough when there’s a plus 8 involved stating she’s only been on “half a date” since her split with Jon.
“I feel like I have my life together pretty much, but let’s be honest; it’s going to take a strong person to wrangle this mess,” she said. “If [a suitor] can pass the test, he’s got to be Superman.”
The new season of Kate Plus 8 premiered on TLC last night with Kate taking the kids to Australia.
