As the days go by, it’s starting to seem more and more plausible that Evelyn Lozada will not be returning to Basketball Wives.
For starters, TMZ reported last week that Evelyn gave the show producers an ultimatum to either pay her $20,000 an episode or she walks for good. Sources close to the production told TMZ that Evelyn and her costars currently pull in around $7,500 an episode.
And then just yesterday, TMZ reported that Evelyn is in talks with the E! network regarding a spinoff show with fiance Chad Ochocinco. Sources close to Evelyn reveal that E! approached her with the new offer as soon as they discovered she wanted to quit Basketball Wives.
As for the reason Evelyn wants to quit the show, she is reportedly very upset with the way the finale episode turned out and is blaming producers for instigating the fight between her and costar Tami Roman. Evelyn has yet to make a final decision but sources add that she and Chad are seriously entertaining the E! offer.
And speaking of Chad and Evelyn, the couple spoke to PEOPLE magazine during which they both stated they will not be rushing to the altar anytime soon.
“He has four kids. I have one. We want to be engaged for at least a year and enjoy our time with our children, and then we’re going to plan our wedding,” Evelyn told PEOPLE, adding that they would both like to have more children. “The more kids, the happier I am,” she said.
So how does Chad feel about the dramatic finale of Basketball Wives during which Evelyn admitted to having once slept with former NBA player Kenny Anderson, while he was still married to costar Tami? Chad revealed all is well because they don’t hide anything from each other.
“I know everything about her, so there are no surprises,” said Chad. “My grandma says, ‘Always marry your best friend, because your best friend will be able to tell you anything and not hide nothing.’ That’s one of the things I really like, which is one of the reasons why she’s wearing that ring.”
Evelyn added that she had a hard time dealing with the backlash from the show. “I was having a hard time [watching],” she said. “I have a lot of followers on Twitter, so everyone has an opinion on your life, and they think they know you. Some of the things they say are hurtful, but he made me keep it together. He’s very supportive with everything.”
