In very shocking news, AI’s Adam Lambert has confirmed what the world already knew, that he is indeed gay. Adam appears on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” says the American Idol runner-up.
Adam continues, “I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.” Adam however is wary of becoming the poster boy for gay civil rights, “I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader.”
Adam also says he didn’t want to “come out” on American Idol, but rather wanted to do it on his own terms. “I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing,” Lambert tells the mag. “I’m an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. it shouldn’t matter. Except it does. It’s really confusing.”
In other news, Adam also signed a record deal with RCA Records. His record is set to be released this fall. We reported yesterday that AI winner, Kris Allen has also signed his record deal.
